4.0 out of 5 stars 2010 Game of the Year (it should be)

The single player mode is fun, but it only gives you 8 missions. That is the only problem with this game. The best mode is online play. You can do co-op or you can battle against others. The online play is the part of this game that will keep you playing. Get this game!!!!!!

Good game. The additional 2 team members add to the action. If you liked the game play of the previous SOCOM's you won't be disappointed with the newest version. However SOCOM 3 in my opinion is not as good as 1 and 2 and that is why I gave it 4 stars.

I'd have to say that this is the best socom I've played yet. I got the one for ps3 a couple years ago and kept the headset and got rid of the game. I got this because I liked the psp versions and traded them in before. I didn't love them but with such a small selection of shooters for the psp at the time i got the first 2 fire teamm bravos. I am not dissapointed... that much. I give the game a 3.5 out of 5. Worst problem I HATE THE UP BUTTON ON THE D PAD AS THE ZOOM IN BUTTON. It does not work and I really hate it. I stink at muiltiplayer because of it.

Positives
Great looking on psp
A lot of guns and apparel and grenades
Multiplayer thats not ad hoc
Ranking system with customization for your character
Good price
Good story decent length

Negatives
Controls
Everyone lays down and camps in multiplayer
Sometimes hard to find games
Target locking system is flawed. Sometimes you lock on and somtimes you don't. Not as good as resistance retribution or metal gear solid peacewalker targeting
Once again a TEEN rating? Cmon guys war isn't Teen rated.

BOTTOM LINE 3.5
I have resistance, metal gear, and this for psp. They are the best 3 shooters I've ever played on psp. (Sorry GTA your 4th). This however is clearly not as good as the other 2. Too many control issues and too many campers make multiplayer boring after a while. The story mode is good and if you can get used to the controls you could have some real fun in both modes. I'd recomend for anyone who likes psp shooters who has the money to spend.

After loving Fireteam Bravo 2 so much, I found this one to be a little disappointing. The single player was fun while it lasted (a few hours) , but after beating it once it got kind of old. One thing I found cool was that you could earn "Medals" (this games version of Playstation Trophies) for completing certain goals, which does add some value to the campaign after beating it. The main reason to buy this game though, would be multiplayer. However, as I previously stated it was a little disappointing. The maps seem to be smaller, and the customization options for your character are pretty boring (especially compared to what Fireteam Bravo 2 had). The game modes aren't as fun to play either (like in captive, it takes longer to revive your player). Gameplay does seem to run smoother though, and the graphics have been improved. The sound in the game is also excellent. Another negative thing about this game is that there aren't a whole lot people online (a few hundred is the most I've ever seen) so it can be difficult to find variety in games. I guess that can be expected with most PSP games now... But otherwise, if you're looking for a fun TPS to play on PSP to help pass the time, this would be a good option.

Good game for on road or travel. Not the same as Xbox360....but only because of smaller format.

I owned and enjoyed the second game in this series, so I had high hopes for this game. It did not dissapoint. The shooting and aiming is great and easy to use. The multi-player is definatly the best I've seen in any game on the psp. My only suggestion to the developers would be a longer campaign. I loved it so much i wanted to keep playing through the story. Overall, this is a great game.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Game. Too short..., January 16, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 (Video Game)
The game is an entertaining 3rd person shooter. no question about that. You control wraith a member of a SEALs squad. your mission is to save a president or something. the controls take a little getting used to but overall feel really good. you move forward, back, and also turn left and right with the nub. you can strafe left and right by holding down "L" whilst using the nub left/right. you can also free-aim with the nub by tapping "up" on the d-pad (although i found the lock on with "R" to be infinitely more effective unless i was sniping). When you lock on to your target, you will automatically strafe around the battlefield. you have an inventory brought up by holding "left" on the d-pad where you can select a specific piece of equipment, or you can tap "left to swap weapons. you must proceed through stages executing mission objectives, strategically eliminating targets to reach said objectives. you can easily dispatch your squad to a location by looking there and tapping "circle". If you are a mind to, you can hold circle which brings up a more extensive squad control menu with actions like; follow, cover, fire at will, stealth. Weapons can be purchased and unlocked throughout the course of the game which can then be extensively customized to fit your play-style. attachments range from scopes and reflex sights, to suppressors, grips, laser sighting, and under-barrel attachments. all of which are purchased in-game using credits of some kind the player acquires upon successful completion of a mission. the graphics are good, the sound is a bit lacking(sometimes i had to turn up the volume to like 85% of the max. output just to hear the dialogue in the cut-scenes). My only real complaint is that the campaign is easily played through in a very short amount of time. there are only 8 full story missions to complete and then the game ends rather abruptly in my opinion. There is some replay value due to detailed combat statistics and awards the player has received and the fact that you cant possibly unlock all the weapons in a single play-through. Wait for the Price to be reduced a bit or get it used and you should be satisfied with your purchase. at full price however i would pass this one by if i could do it over.
