4.0 out of 5 stars WORTH THE WAIT!!!!!!, April 12, 2006

Atomic Punk (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SOCOM: Seal Team Seven (Paperback)
Bout time this book came out and boy was it worth the wait!!! Once you pick it up it'll be hard to put down.

The mix of the elite soldiers which are based in reality, and the strange under-water aliens they encounter proved to be an interesting combination. I think some of the dialogue might confuse some readers, however, there is a glossary at the back of book to explain the necessary lingo, (for us non-military folk). I do think all that military lingo does give the story an authenticity you don't see in this medium. There are some great scenes in this book and there is some really funny dialogue which made the characters seem more realistic.

The black and white art in this book is awesome, I had to stop sometimes and really look to see all the great detail put into it. I can see a lot of time, effort and research went into this book. I understand that this is the writers first graphic novel and boy did he knock one out of the park in his first at bat. The story is fast paced, the action is dynamic and the characters are interesting to follow, and I for one am looking forward to the next chapter!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars This was really good!, April 12, 2006
This review is from: SOCOM: Seal Team Seven (Paperback)
I was amazed at how much I actually liked this book. It all seemed very "Yahhooo!" flag waving at first, but not unlike a season of "24", it was more than I thought it was going in! It was a complicated plot that unfolded very nicely, and, I don't want to give anything away, but anywhay, it's very cool. And the Atlantians are awesome! The art was really detail-oriented and fun to look at, it really helped progress the story. This book also hits on several different themes, including environmentalism and race relations, very cool stuff. A must read!
