5.0 out of 5 stars SOG Revolver
This is the sharpest knife I have ever purchased. I field dressed a deer with it and it worked perfectly. I recommend this newly evolved knife to anyone.

This is my first SOG, and I was surprised at the quality, surprised in a bad way. The blade was not very sharp out to the box, and the fit and finish are questionable. I will use it as a utility knife and I only paid $22 bucks for it, so for that money it is not a bad purchase. I gave this knife as a gift. It was well received. I got to check it out for a little bit and I was impressed. Appeared to be solidly built and it was easy to switch between the two blades.

I picked this up for my backpacking trips and it is a perfect fit. The blade is very sturdy and the molded nylon case is heavy duty. The knife and gut hook are super sharp and the wood saw makes quick work of any task. Awesome space saver.

I honestly don't have a whole lot to say about this knife other than how simple and great it is. As you can very well see - it's got a few tools in one easy to use knife. Comes with a very solid protective sheath and all three of the blades are *incredibly* sharp. I'm overall very pleased and impressed with the product. Highly recommended for someone looking to carry a useful tool in their backpack for hunting or even general outdoor uses.

Also, there is a video on YouTube of how this knife functions (the button to flip it around is almost hidden in the handle). Check out the video before you buy this so you know what you're getting - regardless I'm sure you'll be pleased. Cheers!

4.0 out of 5 stars SOG Revolver Hunter Knife/Saw, January 22, 2012

This review is from: SOG Specialty Knives & Tools FX20-N Revolver Hunter Knife, Satin (Tools & Home Improvement)
I'm attracted to practical tools, especially when they fill multiple needs. This knife/saw does double duty. It appears strong and feels good in my hand. I like the grip. I like that the tool is light in weight, but that brings me to my only concern about the SOG Revolver. The revolving joint seems strong, but there is some blade flex. I worry about it breaking with very heavy use. The tool would probably be too bulky, heavy, and expensive with a more solid joint.

I'm a deer hunter and often need to cut small to medium limbs or brush around my blind... This saw is a little slower when cutting wood than my folding Gerber, but now I only need to carry one tool and I think the SOG will work better on bone. I've haven't used the knife much yet, but it's sharp and I think it'll work well. I would have to fall in love with a product to give it all the stars, so 4 stars is a high rating for me. 1.0 out of 5 stars Careful with the Sheath, January 19, 2012
My son just purchased this knife to use camping with scouts. He hoped that it would double as a knife and saw. He was impressed by the novelty and really wanted it. When he brought it home and gave it to me to check it out, it seemed a bit cheap. I went to put it in the sheath and it was difficult to put in and when I pushed a little to get it in it stuck through the end of the sheath and into my hand. My son said the something happened to him. Not very safe. It is a nylon sheath which I do not believe gives sufficient protection. Much to his dismay we will be returning it. My advice is spend the extra money and purchase a higher quality knife (and sheath).

2.0 out of 5 stars Hunter take a backup!!!, May 24, 2011

This knife was my first SOG and I am not impressed. Dull right out of the box and when used for field dressing a deer its performance well less than acceptable. The handle is quite cheap as well but what do you expect for the price. Cheap? YES? Good for hunting? NO. I reshaped the blade and sharpened it to what a good knife should be and will give it another try this year but but not w/o taking a time tested backup, that is for sure. I give a 2 star for design idea but that is about it.

This is my first SOG, and I was surprised at the quality, surprised in a bad way. The blade was not very sharp out to the box, and the fit and finish are questionable. I will use it as a utility knife and I only paid $22 bucks for it, so for that money it is not a bad purchase. The revolving function of it is "cute" but It remains to be seen how it holds up, there is a bit more play in the blade when locked than I am comfortable, and the lack or razor sharpness means I will not be using it to clean a deer anytime soon, which was the function I had in mind.

I have seen the Seal Pup and it is a great blade, but apparently SOG lends their Logo and name to Chinese made items as well as their better quality stuff, so be careful what you buy. though I read the reviews going into this, so I am not complaining, you get what you pay for.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good tool, November 1, 2010

This review is from: SOG Specialty Knives & Tools FX20-N Revolver Hunter Knife, Satin (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this knife as an addition to my belt "survival" gear. I was originally looking at some sort of camp ax but decided on the SOG name.

The knife arrived in a timely fashion. The blade was working sharp or a bit more. I find the entire knife to be very light. The saw cut through some saplings very rapidly and the knife blade made short work of whittling work and making a figure 4 dead fall trigger. It took battoning very well.

I have recommended it to my friends and plan on getting another for my lady.

The only shortcoming is that the pivot point is a little lose. You notice this when you just play with the blade in the hilt. You don't notice it when actually working with the blade.

On the very nice side of things: I was worried about what would happen if the catch broke while using the blade. As designed if the latch were to break, you would find the DULL side of the blade pushing into your fingers. No danger.

4.0 out of 5 stars well executed concept, September 25, 2010
By

purchased this knife-saw for outdoor trips.

the knife has a good feel to it. the plastic handle has just enough abrasive serration to give a good grip in hands or in some glove materials.
a flush button in the handle releases a pin to allow the knife blade to rotate back into the handle and bring forth a saw blade (and vice versa). i tested the saw on a few pieces of furniture (thrift store) and it will cut quickly into wood.

the knife (about 1/3 serrated edge) and saw blade have a black coating...i guess this retards corrosion. edges are sharp but use will determine how they retain an edge.
the sheath should have a leather tip on the end as the knife point can sometime poke through the nylon...duct tape could help there though.

this is a good 2-in-1-er and amazon offers a competitive price here.
