This is one wicked knife,if you only buy one knife this is it.Total quality,very sharp,and excellent craftsmanship.You can cut small diameter rope without removing from sheath.Nice ballance to it,fits my big hands perfectly.When you take it out of the sheath,it just says "Don't mess with me!"
I like the SEAL knife so much, the bigger version ,the TIGERSHARK,is next on my list of fixed blade tactical knives.You could almost call it a small sword, than a knife.

I gave it 4 stars because really for recreational scuba diving IMO, a 7inch blade is too long. The Shorter "SEAL Pup" is a better knife. That said, this is a pretty tough knife. Not as strong as the Strider WB or TAC 10/11, but still strong enough for recreational scuba divers. Those other knives are also way more expensive, like 3x this one. The sheath which isn't pictured here is very high tech. It holds the knife firmly, has lots of straps and loops for almost any carry position. So a better choice than those cheapy but flashy dive knives from US Divers.

This is an excellent knife from SOG. All aspects of the knife show the high level of workmanship and attention to details. The blade is very strong and sharp.The handle feels good in the hand and provides a solid grip. It works well even when wet. Overall it's a great working knife and I'm very pleased with this purchase. As an aside, if this blade is too long, consider getting the smaller pup version. It's just as good and takes all sorts of abuse and much easier to carry about when hiking or doing outdoor work.

I just want to give a quick review to save your time.
This knife is good for hunting (a little big though), tactical (perfect) survival, camping.
The sheet is very nicely made. Sturdy and very easy to use. Lightweight. It has a hard insert in it so the knife is really secure. If you are handy you can attach extra deals on it. It has a sharpening tool pocket on it which is very useful.
Knife is nice looking, really thick and well balanced. It is not a slicer though since its cutting angle is somewhat 30 degrees. Handle is really a killer material.
This knife is a big knife so the steel is aus 8. It is not the hardest but the job of this knife is not to brake. It is a good stainless blade.
My only problem with it is made in TAIWAN. which is bad. Knife came with heat mark on the tip. So they burned the tip while sharpening which is a bad bad thing. I did not return it because I did not want the hustle.
The powder coating was gone near the tang which means the coating is not done properly. Since the steel is stainless I did not care that much.
If you want to have a single knife I recommend buy an USA or Japanese or a German knife. Rest is a 3rd class craftsmanship.
For the price I recommend this knife.

I bought this knife a little over a month ago, and since then I have put it through quite a bit. Right out of the box it was plenty sharp. I had no problem chopping limbs, shaving branches, and even cut down a sizable tree about 8 inches in diameter. I still haven't sharpened it, and it continues to get the job done with ease. The weight of the knife is perfect; light enough to carry on a long hike and heavy enough to put some power behind the blade. It is also very well balanced, and it is easy to throw for some extra fun. In addition to the knife, the nylon sheath is great. it is sturdy and easy to attach to anything. The small pocket on the front is also great for holding a flashlight, lighter, or sharpener when camping. All in all, this is a five star product.

Great looking knife, very durable, great for camping. I took it this summer to a very woodsy site, it chopped like a beast and was outdoing my friends bushknife at creating kindle from larger logs. Did not hold an edge for too long, but that may be because I was beating on it all day and did a very poor sharpening job. Be careful, the blade does get nicks in it. Even so, I love this knife.

Very well made and durable,clean lines and extremely sharp out of the box. I have used Sog knives for years and they have never let me down in any situation. I have used Sog knives (Seal pups) (only real difference is the size and handle grip) Elite and regular models to dispatch all kind of snakes and Gars on the river, skin wild game etc and have used as a utility knife in the woods also. Sog blades are tough hold a good edge for a long time and are dependable "They will not let you down period!!" I would trust my life to the quality of this or the Seal Pup knife. If you are thinking of getting this knife or the smaller Seal Pup don't hesitate. It will be a satisfying experience not only for the good deal you get price-wise but also for the return on the investment in it in the form of good performance and quality materials that it is made from. Other Sog products that are note worthy also include the Jungle Canopy, The Nw Ranger their multi-tools Tomahawks etc. DO yourself a favor and add one too your collection if you can!!

just got this knife today and all i can say is "wow". this knife is a beast. can not go wrong with this knife. i own both this and the seal pup and i would say they are two of my favorites. razor sharp right out of the box. highly recommend this knife. the sheath is great too. it has many carry options.

Orderd this knife as I was back in Iraq and had lost my last combat knife. I bought this along with a seal pup. got the knife quickly and in great shape, however the sheath could use a redesign as it does feel/look cheap and wouldnt fit onto my kit the way I wanted but, with a few zip ties it was in place great.
The blade came super sharp however, I noticed that with this and the seal pup they lost their razor sharp edge way too quickly with only cutting forgiving things i.e. plastic, cloth, 550 cord, etc. nothing that really should have taken away from the sharpness. but with a quick run over a wetstone it was back up and running.
I recommend these to anyone that needs a good blade, love the feel of the handle, with or without gloves, just seems to be a good snug fit in my hands.
Light weight but feels sturdy. hope this helps.
