Product Description

The SOG Specialty Knives & Tools SAT001-CP Flashback Knife is an ideal everyday carry that opens faster and with more purpose than any other assisted knife available. Made of AUS 8 stainless steel with an attractive satin finish, the 3.5-inch straight edge blade has a drop point shape that sharpens easily and makes quick work of any task. When you start to open the blade, SOG's patented S.A.T. 2.0 (SOG Assisted Technology) takes over and high-tension coil springs propel the blade the rest of the way open for fast, easy, one-handed access. A Piston lock utilizes a movable bar wedged between the blade tang and knife handle to securely lock the blade in place when in the open position. The ergonomically contoured and well balanced handle has a satin and black finish, made of glass-reinforced nylon with a stainless steel wrap and fits comfortably in your hand. The Flashback hides in your pocket with SOG's trademark low-carry reversible bayonet pocket clip, yet is easily accessible. This knife has an overall length of 8-Inch, blade thickness of 0.125-Inch and weight of 3.7-ounces. The SOG Specialty Knives & Tools SAT001-CP Flashback Knife comes with a limited lifetime warranty that protects against defects in manufacturing and materials. Each SOG product is created with the help of company founder and chief engineer, Spencer Frazer. I had high hopes after reading all of the 4 and 5 star reviews. The knife is just ok.

Good - Yes it is fast. Not so much faster than a standard Benchmade assisted knife. At least not so much faster that it is worthy of the hype. Deep pocket carry clip is nice. The knife is also lightweight which I like.

Bad - The thumb stud is painful to use. The blade take-down button rattles if you move the knife. The safety button looks like it was painted red in a hurry... in other words low quality control there. Difficult to close.

I will update the review if things improve after a bit of use.

Great knife so far. I bought this after I broke the tip off my other sog using it to pry something. Also I wanted a clip and my old one didn't have it. The first sog knife I got I didn't think much about someone gave it to me and I threw it in my truck. Well it quickly became the knife I carried everywhere. This is about the same size as my old one which I loved. The clip is nice and tight and the assisted opening is pretty strong, but doesn't flip out of your hand or anything. I don't have any use for the "saftey" switch so I just leave it off and it doesn't bother me. Looks a little funky but has been a great knife. I've used it to cut wet sandy silt fencing and lots of boxes and just all kinds of day to day stuff on the job site. I even used my old sog (serrated part) to cut through some cable cord around my house. Just don't try to pry anything! That's not what a knife is for anyway so I don't see that as sogs fault but mine.

Bought this knife after seeing it featured in a magazine. Wanted one immediately. When I got it I was so disappointed. Yes it opens very fast, that is no joke, but the construction and quality is that of a knife you would buy at Wal Mart. Like one of the other posters said. "Its OK". I think I could have gotten more for the money in some other brand. Based on how the rest of the knife is built I would have to believe the quickness of the blade would decline quicker than a better made knife also. I have already filled in the information to send mine back.

Use this every day at work since I got it, melts through cardboard even the doubled up corners. Dulls very slowly, still feels just as sharp as when I got it, the speed is no joke either(but everyone will tell you that). Mine has just the slightest bit of blade sway but it has never negatively effected what I was cutting, I let some of my buddies at work use mine and they were so impressed they all ordered there own. From pocket clipped to ready to use in 2 seconds easy. The clip is perfect I've never had it get caught on anything or come loose, it fits very snugly in all of my pockets.
An amazing EDC don't pass it up if you're looking for an EDC and can get this on sale.

After reading all the reviews, the good and the bad, I wondered if these reviewers were talking about the same knife. So I ordered one to decide for myself. Initially got the SOG Flashback MINI 3 inch blade. Soon discovered that this was what the reviewers were blasting: The piston lock to fold the knife was impossible to slide back to lock. Blistering my thumb. I sent it back immediately. I ordered the SOG FLASHBACK FLASHBACK 3.5in.: This opened smooth and swift. This was the knife the reviewers were raving about. None of the problems that plagued the Mini edition. This one is a "keeper". I wonder how the same company can make a great knife and a crappy Mini one.

My favoirite EDC.I find this knife to be everything I enjoy about SOG knifes.I also have a SOG Flash 2.Some of the reviews are all over the place regarding this knife.Yes it's stiff when new,....and it has a strong assisted opening system. That's part of the character of this particular knife.I don't use "flipper" style knifes,or do much opening and closing one handed,....but I do find SOG knifes comfortable in that regard. This knife is very strong when closing,..so one handed closing may be difficult.Yes the "snap" is great! no problem there.Just enjoy this knife for what it is.

The blade has little to no lateral movement ( a good thing). My Kershaw has a forefinger opening mechanism that I really like but this SOG has a thumb stud that is not as convenient. This SOG is extremely light weight. That may be a plus for some but for me it doesn't as sturdy as an older SOG I own. The blade lock works but is virtually useless if you want to quickly access your knife.
