Sleek, attractive, and easy to operate, the TWI-8 Twitch II straight bladed knife with aluminum handle showcases SOG's sophisticated style and quality construction. The SOG TWI-8 Twitch II Knife Offers:
  • A satin-finished, AUS8 stainless steel straight blade

  • A hard-anodized 6061-T6 aluminum handle

A reversible clip lets the knife sit securely and discreetly in your pocket. View larger.

S.A.T. propels the blade open for quick, safe, one-handed access. View larger.

The 2.68-inch, heat-treated blade provides you with a versatile, dependable cutting edge. View larger.

SOG Assisted Technology Increases Speed, Safety, and Usability
When you go to unfold the TWI-8's blade, SOG's patented S.A.T. (SOG Assisted Technology) takes over. High-tension coil springs propel the blade open, so you can easily access the TWI-8's blade with just one hand. Additionally, the unique design of S.A.T. knives offers security and peace of mind by incorporating locking mechanisms that are stronger, more reliable, and easier to access than conventional liner locks.

Cryogenic Heat Treatment for a Sharp, Dependable Blade
The TWI-8 offers a full, 2.68-inch, AUS8 stainless steel blade with an attractive satin finish. Because the workhorse of any knife is its cutting surface, SOG's proprietary Cryogenic Heat Treatment process ensures that its blade will stay sharp over the long haul. This intensive process takes more than 48 hours and requires reducing the blade's temperature to less than -300 degrees Fahrenheit, then slowly heating the blade to room temperature. The stress created by this process strengthens the stainless steel at the atomic level and increases the blade's overall durability and edge retention.

Ergonomic, Lightweight Design Ensures Comfortable Use
Even if your blade is sharp, it's hard to make precise cuts if your knife doesn't fit comfortably in your hand. That's why this knife's handle is ergonomically contoured. Crafted from hard-anodized 6061-T6 aluminum, the textured handle is also slip-free and well-balanced.

And at just 2.6 ounces, this folding knife is lightweight and easy to carry. A reversible clip extends from the back of the handle, allowing the knife to sit low in your pocket for the most discreet carry possible. An added bonus, the pocket clip can double as a money clip.

This knife is backed by a lifetime warranty that protects against defects in manufacturing and materials.

Product Description

The SOG Specialty Knives & Tools TWI8-CP Twitch II is designed with intricate construction and stands out in its class, while still being a smaller, affordable knife that’s ideal for an everyday carry. Made of AUS-8 steel with an attractive satin finish, the 2.65-inch straight edge, folding blade has a drop point shape that sharpens easily and makes quick work of any task. This knife features a pass-through lockbar where the "kick" of the blade sticks through. By pressing on the "kick", you initiate the one hand opening of the blade and SOG Assisted Technology takes over using high-tension coil springs to finish opening and securely locking the open blade in place. The ergonomically contoured and well-balanced handle has a graphite finish and is made of anodized aluminum that will fit comfortably in your hand. A fixed pocket clip is located on the back of the handle that can also double as a money clip. This lightweight folding knife is easy to carry with a closed length of 3.55-inches, overall length of 6.20-inches, blade thickness of 0.1-inches and a weight of 2.60-ounces. The SOG Specialty Knives & Tools TWI8-CP Twitch II Knife with Straight Edge Assisted Folding 2.65-Inch AUS-8 Steel Blade comes with a limited lifetime warranty that protects against defects in manufacturing and materials. Perfectly functional and good size to fit in one's pocket.
Scott Globus
I'm not a lockback fan, so I wont give my opinion about that, but I do like that the safety can lock the blade closed or open.
Adam W. Demuth
I like the quick open action and the fact that this knife has a locking mechanism.

Compares well with more expensive knives. Solid as a rock, nice thin body made of stacked metal plates and anodized aluminum handles, with high-quality stainless blade. The I and II are good sizes for a gentlemen's knife, and the XL is my 'out on the weekend' knife. The assisted open works very well, it is just strong enough and does not produce a loud attention-getting snap as with some other brands. Nothing wrong with liner-locks, but I prefer the lock-back and the clip on the heel (that's just me), this knife has both. And the 'kick' opener is my favorite - since I don't need my thumb to open the knife, I can keep a better grip on the body with less effort. A winner all around. Buy two.

I'm disappointed.

Just received this and a Spyderco Tenacious today...the latter being GREAT...also expecting a United Cutlery Hibben III Survival Knife any moment...VERY excited about that one, but anyway...here's why I'm disappointed by the Twitch II...

I took her out and pushed the kick...it didn't go all the way up into locking position. I tried it a few more times, to no avail, and came to the conclusion the pivot screw was too tight. Well...before I stuck my allen wrench in, I checked the blade for play...and wouldn't you know, it was NOTICEABLY LOOSE IN EVERY DIRECTION. This pissed me off because I knew it was already pretty tight...the only way I could get the play out was to tighten it to the point where the knife was basically unable to open normally...

Knowing I was already out of luck with this one, I still tried to fix it on my own...tightened it up, a couple of drops of oil, worked the blade back and forth, et cetera...I've now got it where it flicks open like it's supposed to, but the blade remains loose (in both open and closed positions), and that's totally unacceptable to me...so it looks like I'll be sending this one back to SOG, or more likely returning it to Amazon to get my money back...

It's a good looking, little knife...it was sharp enough out the box, and the lock back and safety were fine...but even if it locked as solidly as The Tenacious, this particular knife doesn't really appeal to me like I thought it would...

Regards,
SKULLSPLITTER - The CEO

When I opened the box that this knife came him, I was pleasantly surprised at its size. This knife is quite small and light, making it a good knife for everyday carry. If you remove the clip and place the knife in your pocket you will forget it is even there. (It comes with a clip, which is also fine if you would rather clip the knife inside of your pocket.) The knife opens easily and quickly.

However, I was not at all happy with the knife. The blade had far too much side to side movement (or "play", if you prefer). In fact, the blade wiggled side to side so much that I took a video of it, uploaded it to a popular video sharing site, and sent an email to SOG asking them if this was normal. In my email I included the url of the video.

Several days later SOG emailed me back stating that they could not watch the video (because they are not allowed to access the popular video sharing site to which I uploaded it) and that if the blade had too much side to side movement I should return it to Amazon. They did not ask me to send it in for repair, exchange, or offer any other course of action rather than returning it to Amazon.

In my opinion, this is terrible customer service from SOG. I returned the knife (thanks Amazon, for having such great customer service) and will not buy any SOG products in the future.

Really impressed with this Knife, the motion is very addictive and with it's lightweight design it's not cumbersome in your pocket. It's now become my everyday carry knife!

I bought the SOG Twitch II because it had a flipper blade-opening design with a back lock that I wanted to try out and because it was less than $40 with Amazon's free Super Saver Shipping at the time I ordered it. My early lock blade knives had back locks, such as the Buck Folding Hunter and other models and the subsequent various Kershaw, Gerber, Puma, Coleman, Schrade, Spyderco, and SOG knives that I purchased, with the exception of a Buck Solitaire with a liner lock, a Gerber Bolt Action drop point, a Timberline Timberlite with a Neeley Lock, and a Boker-Matic with assisted closing or retraction. In recent years, I have favored the flipper design for easy one-hand opening (I have found the flippers to be easier to use than most of the thumbstuds I have encountered, although there are some OK thumbstud designs). The flipper opening designs usually have liner locks instead of back locks, especially since the flipper part of the blade sticks out of the back of the knife handle where the back lock usually is. So I was intrigued by the pass-through back lockbar design of the SOG Twitch and I decided to buy the knife to try it out. With my flipper opening knives that have the liner lock, I can release the liner lock with my thumb and, without shifting my grip, start closing the blade with my index finger and, after moving my thumb out of the way, close the blade all the way with my index finger or with my thumb. With the Twitch II, I had to change my grip to release the back lock and I had to initially use my other hand to close the blade.Read more ›
