5.0 out of 5 stars Quickly becoming one of my favorites, October 12, 2009

I almost purchased this knife on several occassions, but kept buying something else instead. I wish I had gotten it earlier. I finally picked one up (got the camo just for a change from black) in plain edge, I don't care much for serrations.
It is really a very nice EDC (every day carry) knife, and more so due to the very reasonable price.

Initially I thought the shape was a little "odd", certainly different from what we are use to. But that shape is a real plus, the knife fits the hand well and your hand seems to naturally make a very secure grip.

It is very light but sturdy. The spring assist opens rapidly and positively and it locks up tightly. The blade lock is a bit stiff, but loosens some with use. Better too stiff than too loose. There is a safety, but it hardly seems necessary. If you worry about the safety engageing when you don't want it too, a drop of super glue will lock in in off position.

The blade steel is not great, but AUS8 steel is by no means junk steel. It's consistent with the intended use of the knife.
Flat grind may be estectically boring, but sure works well for slicing.
The blade is a bit thinish, but, again, thats consistent with purpose and weight.
Great cutter, but probably a poor prybar.

I would compare it favorably to some of my knives that I paid 2 or 3 times as much for.

It's rapicly becoming one of my favorites. Pick one up, at $40 I don't think you will be dissappointd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as described! My boyfriend LOVES this knife, March 17, 2011

He usually goes with kershaw knives, but wanted to try the SOG this time (he looses knives quite frequently) He got this and uses it for everything from at work to at home to recreation and he has only had it for about a month. It is a sturdy, solid knife and he loves it. Great quality and price.

The only thing I can say that is a tiny bit negative is the shipping took a bit longer than expected. I was given a range of something like between the 10th and 15th for it to arrive and it showed up on the 16th. (it seemed like forever because he was hounding me everyday because he was excited to get it) and there was no valid tracking number given to me so I couldnt track it.

I did send the seller an e-mail requesting information. Although he still did not give me a valid tracking number, he did respond to me in a very timely manner!

Great Knife. I bought this one for my Dad, but I also received the exact one(except color) for Christmas. I really love this knife. It is razor sharp and opens very quickly. It has not left my pocket since Christmas morning. I really love this knife.

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall nice, disappointed with handle, January 23, 2010

I recently found myself interested in purchasing a "single-handed-opening-knife". The SOG Flash II makes my third (I have the Kershaw Zing and Kershaw Baby Boa - which I love).

Overall, I like the Flash II. I was looking for a little bit bigger knife to take when backpacking. At 4.5 in folded and 8 inches overall, it's probably a little too big for daily carry (I work in corporate America so the Baby Boa is perfect for me), but again my intent for the Flash II wasn't every day carry.

However, I am a little disappointed in the handle. The "rugged woodland Zytel handle" is chintzy feeling and I wasn't expecting that (...although it makes the knife lightweight...which is a good thing when backpacking). I'll keep the knife and look forward to how it holds up in use.

SO, would I buy another SOG? Probably, but I'd look for and wait on buying at the right price. Other brands - like Kershaw - I won't necessarily wait for a lower price...I'd just buy it.
