The tool is hardened steel, with a non-slip grip, which was not expected. A solid piece of metal. Very sturdy.

I've had this a month or so and have really put it to use. I've hammered lots of silver and it doesn't even have a scratch on it. The price was better than any of the others I looked at. This item is knurled at the handle for easy gripping, and the markings are indented so they cannot be worn away over time. I'm very pleased with it.

The ring mandrel is of very good quality. It does what I expected it to do and is as advertised.

I'm really glad that I invested in this, rather than the less expensive plastic or hollow aluminum ones from the local craft store. This mandrel is extremely sturdy and heavy, and I can tell that it will last forever. The markings are not just painted on, they are ingraved into the steel, so I'll still be able to see them after the paint eventually wears off. This mandrel is plenty sturdy enough to hammmer on, so no worries there. Just watch out when you take it out of the package: it will be covered in oil. I wasn't expecting that, I guess I never thought about it. A thourough scrubbing with an SOS pad and an equally thourough drying with a paper towel takes care of the oil. This mandrel is a good investment for any jewelry maker, and I recommend it.

This is a standard round jewelers ring mandrel with marks for ring sizes. Made of solid steel it is quite strong and will last my lifetime. I purchased this item through Amazon because it was less expensive than other resources available on the Internet. I am quite please with it.
