I am far from an audiophile, but I am more than blown away by the SUB. I have been using Sonos products for about 6 years and added the Sub to the Zone I have setup in my living room. The setup process was just like every other Sonos device... SIMPLE. That included the ability to tune the Sub and attach it to the correct Zone. I have always loved the Sonos Zone in my living room, but I didn't know it could get this much better. As soon as the first song started playing it sounded like a whole new system... the room FILLED in a way it hadn't before. Even my wife and kids both noticed the difference!

Seriously, if you have a sonos system, go get a Sub now... and if you are thinking about buying one, but one now!

I have received my Sonos Sub and now its time to play. The question at hand will be what and how much of an effect will it be on an already awesome wireless system. I am running two Play:5 speakers and use them all the time, mostly mobile. The wife moves them around from the back yard to the garage to the front of the house ect.. I have a very nice surround sound system with the TV but I'm limited to just that room. Opening the box I see it's packed just like all the rest of Sonos product, top notch nothing but the best.... You pull from box and wow it is very heavy.

Easy set up plug in power cord push Bridge button and sub button so they find each other. I use my Android app to control my system and presto it finds it instantly. Then go to system set up and that's where you can get crazy pair them up or set them up as right and left to work off each other. Then you can dial in the settings for the sub very easy. So you want to know the sound .... Lets just say it is Sick!!! Very deep no vibration love the side by side vibe pushing at each other. I think that concept is why some of the sound is so clean. The way my system is set up now because it is so powerful and complete are, one speaker at front of house and one at rear with the Sub in my exercise room that is mid range of the home.

This system fills my 2700SF home with sound that can put out some BB King Jazz or if in the mood kick it up and pump out some AC/DC and not miss a beat.
Sonos is expensive, but it's worth every penny and is one of the rare things in today's world where you honestly get what you pay for. It's difficult to wrap your head around until you actually try it, but once you have it it's even harder not to drink the Kool-Aid.... ;)
It has excellent build quality, is flexible and extremely easy to set up and even easier to use...I can hand my cell phone to a guest and they can pretty much understand how it works intuitively from the word go. They constantly update their software and still support all legacy devices, to continuously incorporate new features as they become available. You can control it from just about anything...iPhones, iPods, android devices, pc's, laptops....they all just work as expected. If you are asking if the Sonos Sub would be a justified addition to your Play :5 or Play:3 speakers, lets say its like peanut butter to your jelly sandwich!!!!! Read more ›

I added the sub to 2 sonos play 5 speakers in one room stereo paired. OMG! The sound I found is mind blowing and totally amazing. Ok! 2 awesomely mind blowing speakers in one room with the sub added to it, there is no comparison! I put the sub under my bed with the 2 S 5's in play and the result was way more than I could of hoped for in the sound. I was skeptical about the price of the sub, but the result of what I got totally blew that away. Pure awesome!!!! Hope you enjoy!!!!

Can you hear me now?

Ok, I've gotta admit. I'm not a music junkie. I like what I like, but at home I'm pretty content with whatever is on. I bought Sonos last year and loved the simplicity of set up, the ability to control frommy computer or i-phone, the sleek design (yes looks matter to me) and the clear sound. I was thrilled with my purchase and after getting a speaker for one room, I quickly got more for the rest of the house. The kids each control their own music choices from their rooms (or I can override from my i-phone) Are you listenting parents I CAN OVERRIDE FROM MY I PHONE!

Anyhooo, spouse wanted a subwoofer. I don't even know what a subwoofer was supposed to do. But it seemed like a nice birthday gift. So I got a subwoofer. A few days ago, a big box arrives at the door and securely wrapped inside was another sleek Sonos "box" a.k.a. Subwoofer.

Once again, easy set up. Even I could do it and if you knew my computer skills, you would know that means, it's idiot proof. Took 10 minutes of unwrapping, plugging in and following "add component."

Then.... holy crap. My modest home turned into a full tilt nightclub. Again, I'm not a music person so I don't know quite how to describe the different in music quality but what I thought was great to begin with, became concert quality with the push of a button. As we speak, I'm happily rockin out and I'm pretty sure my kids are wondering where their mom went and who this music groupie is that is sitting at their mom's desk. Not sure our neighbors are thrilled but thats a whole other issue.

As a long time Sonos user, I was excited to hear about the upcoming SUB to complement the Sonos ecosystem. I use two Play:3 speakers (in stereo pairing mode) placed on bookshelves in my living room connected via the Wireless Bridge. They do a fine job of filling the space with music, but there was a distinct lack of low end punch. A small speaker can only reproduce so much of the audio spectrum. Stepping up to the Play:5 speakers would have helped somewhat, but shelf space was limited so I went with the Play:3.

When the SUB arrived on my door step yesterday, it was well packaged in a large shipping box (21"x21"x11"). It was a hefty package, weighing approximately 40 pounds. Inside this outer shipping carton was the well protected retail box. Upon opening the SUB package, immediately on the top were the setup instructions. Anyone who knows Sonos likely won't spend more than 30 seconds reading the setup document, as the SUB connects to your Sonos system the same way any Sonos component does, via a single button push.

I unpackaged the SUB, and was immediately impressed by its quality and design. The glossy finish looks beautiful (before dust and fingerprints get on it) and it has that solid, hefty feel that oozes the sense of quality. The overall design is compact, yet striking. The physical dimensions of SUB are 16"x15"x6.5", so its smaller overall footprint will lend itself to many placement options. Due to its inward firing speakers, it can even be placed on its side. Very innovative.

I connected the power cord to SUB and plugged into the wall and that was it for physical setup. Since I am using the Sonos Wireless Bridge in my home, setup was very simple. I opened my Sonos iPad app, went to `settings' and chose `add a Sonos component'.... It instructed me to push the connect button on the device (the single button on the front of the SUB) and it connected seamlessly. The app recognized a need for a firmware update and after a couple minutes, the SUB was updated. Next steps, all within the Sonos app, were to indicate what room to associate the SUB with, in my case my stereo paired Play:3's. Once associated with my living room, there was a sound test and a selection for what level of `boom' I preferred for my room. The scale was -3, -2, -1, 0, +1, +2 and +3. In my large living room (20'x30' with 18' ceilings) I found the +1 to be more than adequate. I played with the +2 and +3 levels and they were incredibly powerful, rattling windows on occasion. That shows you what kind of power output this thing is capable of. Very Impressive.

Overall, the SUB has added a whole new dimension to my listening enjoyment in the home. It went from a very capable system to a downright audiophile quality experience. Sonos did an excellent job complimenting the SUB to the sound signature of its Play speakers. It is now a truly complete listening experience and I am very happy overall. If you own a Sonos speaker(s), you owe it to yourself to experience how much more you can get from your system by adding a SUB. The transformation in sound quality is simply stunning! Read more ›
