ClearEdge VM wideband velocity modulation (selectable: off, high, low) improves the definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas. The set's 3-D digital comb filter further enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped t-shirt).
Top-of-the-line component-video inputs minimize digital and line-scan artifacts from compatible video sources, while standard composite- and S-video inputs accommodate all DVD players. You can choose between a set of rear AV inputs and a set of front AV inputs for extra convenience. A rear AV output offers both fixed and variable-level analog audio outputs for hookup with, for instance, both a VCR and a surround receiver. The set's video inputs and channels can be labeled for easy selection.
The set provides stereo audio with 10 watts per channel. WOW technology simulates surround sound through any two speakers, and BBE High-Definition Sound improves speech intelligibility and restores the dynamic range of compressed musical passages. The DAC speaker system boosts bass response using a resonant chamber while emphasizing midrange frequencies for further enhancement of voices. A headphone jack lets you listen in private.
Other video technologies include auto white balance, Dynamic Picture Processor circuitry, tilt correction, Trinitone color temperature control, and vertical aperture compensation.

KV24 Failed After 60 Days,
By
This review is from: SONY KV-24FV300 24" FD Trinitron(R) Wega(TM) TV (Electronics)
After extensive research, I purchased a KV24 from a local "Brick & Mortar" dealer. While the picture quality and features live up to the reviews, I cannot in good conscience recommend this TV.Less than two months after purchase it made a loud "snap" (high voltage arc) sound and stopped working. The "standby" light would blink, but the TV failed to turn on. Administering the "hard reset" recommended by Sony caused the TV to become completely inert. The unit has now been at a Sony authorized repair shop for a month. I am told the parts required for the repair are back ordered and I should expect the repair to take another two to three weeks, so the repair time will equal the useful life of the TV. Both the dealer and Sony have refused to replace the unit with a new one. This problem is common enough that it is described in a top link on Sony's service web site, so I suspect I'm seeing a basic design or QA problem.

Television Perfectionist,
By A Customer
This review is from: SONY KV-24FV300 24" FD Trinitron(R) Wega(TM) TV (Electronics)
Excellent picture quality and fantastic sound! This set provides surround sound capability without needing to connect it to a stereo system.
We also own the Sony top-of-the-line 36"XBR, and judge this 24" model to be equal in every way except size (and weight!). The KV-24FV300 is the best value in the entire Sony line-up. The KV-20FV300 is identical but smaller, and slightly less expensive. But the 24FV300 is well worth the extra price for the added impact of the bigger picture and a larger, more dynamic soundstage. I have rarely been so impressed with a product as I have throughout the year we had had this tv. Superb in everry way.

Same Problem,
By A Customer
This review is from: SONY KV-24FV300 24" FD Trinitron(R) Wega(TM) TV (Electronics)
I echo the sentiment expressed above by "e0102". Same problem with TV going out and light blinking with no help from Sony's tech department except to suggest to return the set. Fortunately for me, this happened the second day I owned the set. I returned it for a refund and am considering the JVC 24".
