Cheap, comfy, best earbuds I've owned,
This review is from: SONY MDR-E10LP Lightweight Earbuds (GRAY) (Electronics)
I have two big problems when it comes to earbuds: first, I have small ears so I frequently feel like earbuds are in fact screws being worked into my inner ear (they also fall out all the time). Second, I am very rough with my hardware because I sleep with them I let them hang off my Ipod and drag on the ground, I broke my last pair by stepping on them. Because of this I go through buds and headphones quickly, and buy pairs I know I won't like simply because they are cheap and I know I'll have destroyed them soon.
I found these at a local electronics store (I always browse for new headphones), the low price point drew me in and the fact that there were 5 different colors on display was nice but unnecessary (I picked the grey/white ones). I could not have been more happy with what I found, from the fact that the packaging was small and convenient (a simple plastic tube, easy to open), to the comfort of the earbuds and even the sound quality (although I'm by no means not an audiophile) were great. The package also came with slips to cover the buds, but I found that they were plenty comfy with just the plastic in my ears. I wholeheartedly suggest you get these even if you aren't on a budget, as they are easily one of the comfiest sets I've owned and don't slip when running/jogging.

Good stuff,

Good stuff. I use them when I work out. They're much louder than my old iPod headphones. I always trust Sony since I've had the same Sony headphones for a good 5 years and they work the same as they did when I first go them.

As a general rule I am not a fan of earbuds. I only use them while at my desk at work (with one ear open), or while at the beach/pool.
With that said, these serve their purpose very well. I only bought them because my standard issue, Apple earbuds finally broke after a few years, and I have been very happy with the results so far. I immediately noticed an increase in comfort & sound quality. They also stay in my ear a lot better than the Apple buds, but if I was running around/working out/etc...they would definitely not work. So if you are using these while sitting at your desk or laying by the pool I would definitely recommend them. If you need something for the gym, get some good old fashioned headphones.

Great sound for small price.,
This review is from: SONY MDR-E10LP Lightweight Earbuds (GRAY) (Electronics)
I normally listen to my iPod through my Sony MDR-XD100 so I am used to a very full sound range from Bass up to treble. While these are not exactly the same they do a great job for earbuds. First off they have 13.5 mm drivers with Neodymium magnets. Most earbuds from Memorex and Skullcandy only have 10-11 mm drivers. Bigger the driver bigger the sound. The Neodymium magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnet made. These have a better frequency range than the others.
I find them comfortable sitting or power walking with or without the foam covers that come with them. I listen to bands like RED and Seven Day Slumber who have a lot of rock crushing bass. These earbuds are well balanced without too much of anything. The are much better than their more expensive cousins the Sony MDR-EX33LP which only have 9mm drivers and sound like you are listening to music down a wire or through a soda can. These are better than my standard apple buds that I misplaced. I am tough on my stuff so time will tell if they last. I might consider the Sony MDR-PQ5 only because I have read the bass is better for a few bucks more. Everyone is going to have their hearing and comfort tastes. I am saying they work great for me without a bunch of money.

I'm an audio quality snob. My go-to headphones are a pair of UltimateEars Super.fi 5 Pros. I also use a pair of Sennheiser HD 600s, and I listen using either my HeadRoom Little or Max headphone amps.
I bought these earbuds because I needed something to wear while walking to work in the rain (I work in Seattle). I am extremely pleased with the purchase. Most earbuds sound like garbage. These don't. They are easily the best earbuds I have ever owned, including some Sennheiser earbuds and stock iPod earbuds. Despite the fact that these are some of the best earbuds out there you have to bear in mind that they still sound like earbuds: They are very bright, with muddled midrange and weak bass. They are miles away from a flat frequency response, and they present a shallow soundstage. But if you want a pair of comfortable, "disposable" headphones that are cheap and light then go with these. They're ideal for walking and exercising. If you want headphones to use indoors I would advise upgrading out of the earbud universe. Consider some IEMs (I've heard the Sony MDR-EX series is good, but if you have a little more money UltimateEars and Sure are worth checking out), or try something like the Koss PortaPro (the best headphone under $100, in my opinion, and they are only $30).

these are great earbuds, that are about as good as the apple earbuds, they are good enough to play bass and the don't have noise canceling. They are comfy, and don't fall out of my ears, however they do feel poorly constructed and they don't feel durable

I was looking for a pair of headphones that I can wear while riding my bike. Not rly allowed but if u use them at low volume it's ok. Those are just perfect, helmet fits over w/o making them pop out of the ear, sound quality is good - nothing extraordinary, but good. Low frequencies are maybe a little weak, but again, good sound quality for cheap confy ear buds.

Fabulous stuff. It works very well. The most amazing thing, this stuff is perfectly compatible with my 1st generation iphone. Many earphones of this low price did not work with my iphone. So with this earphone, I do not need an adaptor.

Worst headphones I have ever owned,
This review is from: SONY MDR-E10LP Lightweight Earbuds (GRAY) (Electronics)
I'm really baffled by the positive reviews on these headphones. While I'm a firm believer in the "you get what you pay for" mantra, I still wasn't expecting to be so displeased with these earbuds. Sony is usually pretty reliable when it comes to consumer electronics, and they make some of the best studio monitoring headphones on earth, so I figured these would be not-so-great but acceptable headphones to use with my iPod when I'm at the gym.....nope.
My biggest complaint is that they don't stay in my ears. I've used high-end earbuds before, but even the ultra-cheap, free ones that came with my iPod or PSP, while not sounding great, at least stayed in my ears during a light jog. With these, they fell out every thirty seconds or so, to the point that I just took them off. This was at the beginning of my workout too, so it can't be blamed on sweat. They're just not well designed. Secondly, the sound quality is pretty poor. I wasn't expecting much for the price, but the bass response is pretty much non-existent. They're fairly clear and noise-free for more mid-range stuff, but if you listen to anything that has a decent amount of low-end, you're going to be disappointed. Really wish I had spent an extra five bucks and picked up something nicer. Oh well; lesson learned.

I've only had these for a few days, so i can't speak to their ruggedness, but they sound real good. Not great, but what do you expect for this price? (My four stars are really a "great for the price" rating, not to imply their sound quality is fantastic.) To me they sound just as good or better than Apple's earbuds, and they only cost 1/3 of the price! And, they are shaped slightly better to fit in your ear. What's not to like? I might order another pair!
