My lamp blew out on my Sony WEGA KDF-E42A10. Now I know that a lamp can give you about 4 years of good service. We have our TV on more than we should, so 4 years is probably a decent average.

I bought this, tossed the instructions that came in the box because they didn't apply to my TV (I was able to download the TV's owner's manual online) and followed my TV Manual's instructions.
Wait for the TV to cool (no problem for me, as my TV was out for two days before I got this new replacement in the mail)
Open a hatch door
Open another door
Pull out the lamp
Stick the new one in. It clicks when it's in. Close the door, close the other door, and you're done!

My TV looks better and brighter than the day I bought it.

It's now 1 month later, and my TV picture has started getting REALLY dim. It's practically too dim to watch during the daytime, and it's very dim at night. For non-HD channels, you can practically forget about getting good picture. This may be a dud; it has to be. But for the price of these things, I can't afford duds.

Bought this for a Sony KDF-E50A10. Description says this bulb is compatible, IT IS NOT!

Bulb will fit into housing, however the TV does not recognize this off-brand bulb and will not work properly. TV will turn on for about a second and then the screen goes black with the flashing green light. TV stays in this continuous cycle and will not work.

Returned the bulb once and got the replacement while I was on vacation. Tried the second bulb upon returning and TV will still not function and it was too late to return again. So now I'm out the $150 and still don't have a working TV.

Learn from my experience, if you're looking to replace the lamp for a Sony KDF-E50A10 AVOID THIS LAMP! Buy the OEM from Sony direct. It's worth your piece of mind!

After installing my new Fox Direct projection bulb/housing in my SONY WEGA 50" set, I noticed a 3" x 50" wide "pink" translucent bar at the top of the screen.
I re-installed the new bulb/housing to make sure I had everything in place. All to no avail.....
So....I contacted the Fox with my concerns. I received a speedy reply asking if I wanted a return authorization number and address to send
the merchandise back too.
I replied with Yes! Please send the info.
Well, after two more E-Mails from me requesting that info, I have yet to hear back from the Fox.
Come to think of it....Why wasn't the return info just sent to me in the first place? Funny that the Fox would ask me if I wanted it. Duhh!
I will give points for the rapid shipping of the idem, and how nice it was packaged tho.
I hope others have a better experience than I have.

Received this lamp and installed it myself. No problems there. When you turn the TV on is where the problems start. For whatever reason this bulb has to warm up. I have replaced the bulb before and never had this problem. When you first turn the TV on it is a greenish and grainy looking picture, within 3-5 minutes the bulb warms up and the picture is fine. I don't know if this is because of the OEM Equivalent that this bulb is listed as, but I sure think so.

I received my product when they said I would and I am very happy..I was a whole weekend without the tv so needless to say I was going through withdrawals...But not now thanks to amazon....and the price was right...Thanks again

This made my Sony LCD Wega 50' display much brighter. I was able to swap this device out with the old lamp in a matter of minutes.

The replacement lamp arrived in about 1 week (free shipping!). If your old lamp is shot, get out your owner's manual (or search for a PDF online), and practice replacing the lamp a couple of times before the replacament arrives. This is especially helpful for opening and closing both doors necessary for proper replacement. Also, be sure not to handle or touch the glass portion of the lamp; the oils and other substances on your skin can dramatically shorten the life of the lamp.

It took me longer to open the box than to replace the unit. Excellent product and easy install. No need to look anywhere else. The picture looks even better than what orginally came with the TV, I think. I highly recommend that you look at your manuel about what to do once you repplace the lamp with a new one, otherwise your picture will not look clear at all.
