things to keep in mind...,

This review is from: Source Naturals Potassium Iodide 32.5mg, 240 Tablets (Health and Beauty)
Not to dissuade you. I've been taking the recommended dosage for the allocated 10 days, and I've had NO side effects from the supplement (aside from an increase in the munchies, which is tolerable.) ^^;; Actually, I feel good. -1 star just because it doesn't say on the bottle when (after taking it for 10 days) you can take it again. Anyone know?
As w/ any supplement it's important to do research and make sure you understand how it can react w/ other medicines or supplements. [[ Ref: http://nih.dev.kramesonline.com/26,S,498 ]] What should my health care professional know before I take potassium iodide? They need to know if you have any of these conditions: *Addison's disease *bronchitis *cystic fibrosis *dehydration *dermatitis herpetiformis *goiter *heart disease *high level of potassium in the body *kidney disease *thyroid disease *tuberculosis *vasculitis *an unusual or allergic reaction to potassium iodide, iodine, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives ** pregnant or trying to get pregnant ** breast-feeding What drug(s) may interact with potassium iodide? * drospirenone; ethinyl estradiol * heparin * lithium * methimazole * potassium supplements * propylthiouracil * some medicines for high blood pressure or heart failure * some water pills or diuretics (examples: amiloride, spironolactone, triamterene) Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines. What should I watch for while taking potassium iodide? Visit your prescriber or health care professional for regular checks on your progress, and to make sure your body is producing the right amount of thyroid hormone. If you are taking a non-prescription product for prevention of thyroid problems due to radiation exposure, do not take for more than 14 days without the advice of a health care professional. Public health officials or your prescriber will be able to instruct you on the needed length of treatment. Potassium iodide will only protect the thyroid gland, and does not protect against other forms of radiation exposure or injury. If you are on a low-potassium diet, talk to your prescriber or health care professional about your potassium intake before taking potassium iodide. If you are going to have surgery, tell your prescriber or health care professional that you are taking potassium iodide solution or syrup. What side effects may I notice from taking potassium iodide? Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible: * burning in the mouth or throat * difficulty breathing or shortness of breath * sore gums and teeth * fever * goiter (enlarged thyroid gland causing swelling in the throat) * irregular heartbeat or palpitations * menstrual changes * metallic taste * numbness or tingling in the hands or feet * severe headache * skin rash and itching (hives) or acne-like skin problems * swelling of face, mouth, arms, or neck * weakness Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome): * diarrhea * nausea, vomiting * stomach pain or cramps

Purchaced for Thyroid problems, Dr. wouldnt give me anything for my low thyroid, so I am always trying to increase Iodine because I feel better when I take it. Ok instructions said to only take for 10 days. I ignored it but on about day 15 I got a nose bleed, so I stopped. Now I am taking it every 3rd day and it seems to be going fine. I am waking up in the morning feeling wide awake and almost stopped drinking coffee. I think my brain is working better too. This is the highest dose I have ever seen. I may try cutting it in half and doing it every other day, everything I have read, if your thyroid is low your heart is affected, metabolism, skin, hair, nails. Iodine even can prevent breast tummors, and helps your body obsorb D3.

Iodine A Mineral above the rest.,

Source Naturals Potassium Iodide, 32.5 mg, Tablets, 240 tabletsOptimox Iodoral 180 tabsI started taking this after a friend suggested it. I was tired, hair falling out, high cholesterol, over weight, etc. Classic thyroid symptoms. All disappeared or at least vastly improved after taking it. Read The Iodine Project written by Dr Guy Abraham. Search online for it. I built up to 4 a day and backed down to 1 daily at night for last 4 years. (1 Iodoral or 1/2 pill of Source Natural = 16.25 mg) Now I sleep like a baby and feel refreshed in AM. Hubby is on it too, and sister, and nephew, friends etc. Hubby said hair stopped growing in his ears. I even put it in my horse and chicken water troughs. We are all depleted! I can't say enough about a simple mineral that used to be in all our breads, flour etc. Big Pharma can't patent a mineral or synthesis it. A cheap solution to many of our multitudes of increasing problems. Chloride, Bromide and Floride all compete with Iodine's absorption.
