The good: * lowest priced breaker-box arrestor I could find.
Mac Coder
So, I guess I will install a 20amp breaker, that's how my last one was connected.

I installed a surge arrestor in the power distribution panel of our house when it was built. We have experinced longer light bulb life, no damage from surges (close lightening strikes) and no problems with electronic equipment. A attribute some of this to good luck and some to the surge arrestor. When we purchased a new class A motor home, I installed a surge arrestor in the power distribution panel on the motor home. We have not had any problems with equipment in the motor home. I belive this device prevents problems due to power spikes in all homes and RVs.

UPDATE: After two years, these are still working, despite some VERY close lightning strikes.

The good:

* lowest priced breaker-box arrestor I could find.
* Square-D has solid reputation
* compact size

The Not So Good:

* LED indicator lights even when one phase is not connected
* No way to test unit functionality (not unique to this device)
* Green LED not easily seen outdoors.

Install of the lightening arrestor was very easy. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a cheaper alternative to other arrestors that are 2 or 3 times the price. Square D is a great company with good electrical products in my experience.

There were no directions for installing with the one that I bought, I asked for information and got several replies that helped.
The manufactures site was down when I installed this, Now that the site is up again. here is their install information
:
Connecting the SDSA1175 leads to a 2-pole, 15 - 30 ampere, branch circuit breaker is the recommended means of connection. If the load center is a Square D QO, or Homeline Convertible Main breaker device, you could use a QOSAMK mounting kit. This includes hardware to connect the SDSA1175 leads to the load side of the main circuit breaker.

So, I guess I will install a 20amp breaker, that's how my last one was connected.
