This is a decent product for the price (under $10). The playback quality is good and it also allows you to retrieve your messages via remote access. One minor inconvenience is the fact that the flashing message LED is difficult to read in bright light. Overall I would recommend this product for your land line telephone.

THE SHORT OF IT: Answering machine does what it's supposed to, with straightforward operation and decent sound quality.

Minor setup annoyances:

1. Setting the clock is a bit tedious. It calls out the minutes audibly until you get to the proper time (you can't scroll backwards); a little irritating when you start at :00 and have to go all the way to :55

2. The cover for the battery backup is held in place by a tiny screw. Who wants to fumble around for a screwdriver? Why not design it with a locking slide type cover?

sadly, the days of digital answering machines are coming to a close.
but i'm still living in the past. i'd have a rotary phone if i could.
i tried an at&t model, a radio shack model... both didn't work AT ALL.
total crap.
so i didn't have high hopes for this cute green one.
but lo and behold, it actually works.
sound quality, not great, but it actually records messages and my outgoing message is understandable.
hope it keeps working.
but, i have a feeling it's the luck of the draw. all these low-end electronics are build so poorly that you might get one that works and you might not. keep trying. it only took me 3 tries.

I needed an answering machine with two mailboxes to replace another of another brand that failed. The SOUTHWESTERN BELL FA-970 Digital Answering does as intended. It's a little tricky to learn to shut the machine off when picking up as it starts answering, and it's loud; but I have no problem hearing it or with the quality of recording.
