This pole connects just like any other gopro mount. With the screw and the fitting under the camera housing.

I'm sure it would be fine, however I would prefer the Gopro Pole for scuba diving. I used it and had great results especially when reaching a good distance for close up shots of fish and other sea life your not supposed to get close to or won't allow you. The pole is well constructed and in my opinion harder to lose. It can be challenging with the older model Gopro due to having to reach for the button every time you want to start or stop recording. My dive buddy used it on our second dive and he has the gopro 3 and had amazing video, and was able to get close to corral, fish, ect. Tip: invest in a red filter, a world of difference.

I don't think so, but it is not expensive. I just used it everyday for two weeks scuba diving and it performed perfectly.

Yes, but I would not recommend buying this product. It pole wouldn't retract the first time I brought it to the water.
