5.0 out of 5 stars Addictive Fun
Coming straight from a hardcore gamer of 21 years, I must say I have NEVER truly had so much fun playing a game before. It is impossible to not bob your head, wiggle your hips and grin stupidly while playing this fast beat music/adventure game. Think you don't have the groove to play? After a few rounds you will be dancing and shooting aliens without missing a beat. This...

UGA is one of my favorite companies along with TREASURE because of their brilliant games like REZ and Space Channel 5 for the deceased Dreamcast. If you've played both REZ and Space Channel 5, then you will know UGA's refreshing creativity(I consider REZ as something beyond being 'video game'). Although their games don't sell well like other blockbusters, their games stand as the testament of video game maker's pure intention of creating a 'GAME' in the video game industry... testing and experimenting their passion for the video games and letting gamers to share their passion; and that's where my respect for UGA comes from.

When I saw this Gameboy Advance version, I knew that it was pretty much similiar to the Dreamcast version by looking at the pictures on the back. I still bought it because I loved the first game so much...why not try portable version, right?
Well, frankly, I have to be honest with this one; I was disappointed. Of course, this is Gameboy Advance version... you are not gonna get something similiar to the Dreamcast version-

however,

First of all, they have pretty much transported the same game from the Dreamcast version. Although they have twitched some sequences here and there, it's pretty much the same game. So nothing is really new for those who've played the Dreamcast version.

Second, one of the reasons Dreamcast version was so excellent is because of Ulala's flawlessly, seamlessly executed dancing move(man, I don't know why but the way Ulala does dance is so,so.....let me put it this way; 'There's something about Ulala'); the game suffers alot when Ulala's trade mark of 'sexy' dance can not be executed with smooth motion due to console's limitation.

Lastly, I do not judge a game by its length except when game does not offer much to the player. The Dreamcast version was pretty short, meaning you could probably finish it in an hour. However, it was worth it because of its refreshing and unique experience I could have from playing it. This Gameboy Advance version, however, is a different story. It was pretty short, again, finished it in less then an hour. However, the same kind of experience I had with the Dreamcast version was nowhere to be found except few recognized scenes, which only brought my old memories back from Dreamcast version even more.

I couldn't help but play the Dreamcast version again after finishing this game on Gameboy Advance... and wow... and that's all I could say..'wow'

Well, I don't know- It's still a fun game if you are looking for some dancing/rhythm game for your Gameboy Advance; however, I WOULD ONLY RECOMMEND THIS GAME ONLY IF EITHER YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED THE DREAMCAST VERSION, OR WAS ABLE TO BUY IT AT A RELATIVELY LOW PRICE. However if that is not the case, then I don't really recommend it...may be I could still recommend this one RELUCTANTLY(I'm usually very biased when it comes to reviewing my favorite games, however, this one just doesn't quite get my 'biased' view somehow...)

I hope that you would enjoy what UGA and Ulala have to offer!

PS: Make sure to play this game with THE HEAD PHONE! It sounds so much better!

I just wish it was longer! 5 stars!

I love this game. After becoming addicted to the original Space Channel 5 on Dreamcast, I was simply suprised how well they've ported this version to the GBA. It really DOES get you dancing! "up chew rightchew!" Space Channel 5 is a really rad game.

The point of the game is pretty similar to the child game "Simon Says." You have to press the direction or botton in the same order that the game tells you to. The intersting twist, though, is that you have to press the bottons with the music, on the beat. This makes the game more of a dancing game, and tons of fun to play.

If you want something to pass the time, this is excelent. The first part of the game is ofcoarse very easy, but once you get farther into it, the game becomes challenging. The game is tons of fun, and would be great for children especialy.

My best friend (23yrs. old) was in love with Space Channel 5 on the Dreamcast. I just bought her a GBA SP for xmas and noticed Space Channel 5 was available for it but i wasnt too excited about the reviews i was reading on different gaming sites. I decided to give it a chance anyway since she loves the game so much. I couldnt help but play it, and I must say its a very good portable version of Space Channel 5! Very easy to pick up and play...and the gameplay has been perfectly translated to the GBA! EXCELLENT GAME!

I heard that this game had bad ratings but i had wanted it so much i just had to have it. I started playing this game and i was amazed by the amazing graphics, funky music and outragous dance moves. I was loved every moment of it. I finished the game and it had an interesting ending. I loved every part of it and it is my favorite game of all time. ^_^

1.0 out of 5 stars Badder than bad. Not worth anything., January 13, 2004

I don't write reviews, but this game made me start. I wanted to warn all of you; don't waste your money.

Waste of time and money. I had to try to get some store to take it back to exchange for another game. I told them it didn't work. They put it in a game system and no one there questioned me that it didn't work. They all look puzzled at what to do and if the game was working. I felt bad about doing this, but I felt like I was ripped off. I read the reviews here and thought this game might be fun for the kids.

If you like THQ games and want something involving rhythm, music or dance, then I would suggest Britney's Dance Beat (but that got poor reviews too).

One game that the kids love to play similar to Britney is American Idol. Don't ask me why, but they love to play it.
