superlatives dont come easy.
this guy blew me away - what a talent.how longineu parsons has remained relatively undiscovered is beyond me.
thanks to 'ubiquity' for releasing the best album i've heard in recent years.listen to 'party in morocco' and a truly brilliant version of 'seach for the new land' and prepare to be astounded.
take 'don cherry' 'freddie hubbard' 'lee morgan'
'blue mitchell' and 'donald byrd' now add the name 'longineu parsons'.

5.0 out of 5 stars All-Out Jazz-Funk Jams!, May 11, 2006

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Longineu Parsons'Collected Works 1980-1999 is one of the best CDs I purchased recently. Fans of early-seventies McCoy Tyner (Asante, Atlantis, Expansions, etc.) will love this stuff. These are all out free-flowing, jazz-funk jams. It's freejazz that never loses melody and soul.

Buy this now. You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy and wacky and great, July 18, 2001
By
Jeff Lash (Saint Louis, MO, USA) - See all my reviews

This is an intense album. There's no good way to describe it. It reminds me of a weird dream that is interesting enough to make you want to stay asleep but creepy enough to make you want to wake up. It's jazz at its core, but there are tons of spacy effects and trippy beats and just plain crazy stuff on it. The first time I heard it I loved it; the more I listened to it, the more the novelty wore off, but it's still a great album, if for nothing else than for its innovativeness.
