This review is from: SPAL Programmable Fan Controller Version 3
I suffered for a year with a P.O.S. controller that came with my electric fan. Sometimes it would stay on and kill my battery, sometimes it wouldn't turn on at all and my car would overheat. When it did actually work, the temp control was inconsistant, at best. Anyway, I did alot of research and found the SPAL controller. It solved everything, finally! The quality is great, the documentation is great, the look of the unit is great. I easily wired it up in about two hours. (the only reason why it took this long is because I did some custom modifications to the harness, which was also well made). I started my car, followed the programming instructions, and it worked prefectly the first time. I haven't had to mess with it since. The engine rises to the programmed temp and the needle on the temp gauge doesn't move. It holds prefectly to the programmed temp. It uses your stock temp sender unit or you can buy an optional one from SPAL. Whatever you do, don't get the probe sensor that sticks through the radiator fins, they are lousy! I am very happy with the unit and highly reccomend it. Yes, there are certainly cheaper ones out there, but beware, you get what you pay for!!
