This review is from: SPARC Architecture Manual Version9 (Paperback)
If you're doing any serious machine programming of the SPARC architecture you need this book. The book is about 350 pages - the first half of which is an overview of the architecture itself (starting with general SPARC stuff, moving into detailed coverage of registers, instructions, traps, and memory access), the second half of which is a detailed opcode reference.

Not exactly nightstand reading, but it gets the job done quickly and efficiently. I was a little bummed that the physical format of the book didn't aid the reader in using it as a reference, since that's obviously what it's going to be used for 99% of the time. For instance, dark tabs on the pages to identify the sections of the book would have been helpful.

Well, its the SPARCv9 manual. There's not much else to say. I rather liked the discussion of memory ordering. I thought Table 13 was useful. Elizabeth really should have take a liking to Darcy a little earlier to make the story flow, but when she pulled out that fcmpe32 at the end, the finale was still enjoyable.
