Hard Subject Made Understandable,
By Joseph A. Hare (Wallingford, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SPC for the Rest of Us (Paperback)
I hate to use the word "easy" when speaking about statistics but this book comes as close as you can get to easy reading and understanding of this subject. It is a great book for the novice as well as a handy reference for those who have experience with statisticial process control.

Very practical approach in a language that does not intimidate.,
By Alain Ariel Bendijo (Taguig, Metro Manila Philippines) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SPC for the Rest of Us (Paperback)
Although a bit dated (I have the 1994 edition), I enjoy the non-intimidating approach to what would usually be a very intimidating subject for most of us. The author presented SPC in a language and manner most easily understood and appreciated by us non-statistics oriented individuals. I most certainly enjoyed the very pragmatic approach to the discussion on control charts. Although not devoid of math, and I normally cringe whenever I start seeing those big greek sigma summation symbols, the approach is very practical and easily digested. The chapter on the normal distribution has helped me greatly. I am reading this book as a secondary reference for a six sigma certification and I find the tone in my six sigma materials to be thoroughly confusing.

SPC from the ground up.,

This book is great becasue it only assumes you have a basic understanding of algebra. The statistics start there and build up to cover most of the SPC you will see in Quality Control. Early in my quality career this was a great starting point and now years later I still find this book to be a good plain text reference. My only criticism is that it is not longer.
