This item is very interesting because it accomplishes several things that I frankly wouldn't have expected. I'm going back to school and I need more light. I have a cfl but it's not the brightest thing in the world...so I went to a retailer and tried to buy a full spectrum light (a generic version of ott) it worked OK but it was awkward and frankly nearly unadjustible. So I digged up some research in lighting and came to a really easy conclusion. The problem is NOT the light...it's the light BULB. About 5000-5500 mimics daylight so I searched and came up with this one. It's amazing as to how much light they crank out at 15watts.
Using just ONE bulb is giving me the effects of using that ONE lamp. $5 bulb giving me brightness of a $60-70 lamp...I was also suprised to see on the box USA. I'm not sure if that totally ment where it was made but they should have some patents on this because it's excellent. If you are save energy and well not to put other manufactuers down but um...read then these will work well.

Anybody who has ever had a full-spectrum incandescent bulb knows that they put out a distinctly pleasant glow. These fluorescent bulbs appear to put out the exact same spectrum as their old-fashioned equivalents, but of course last many times longer and use considerably less electricity. So superior are they compared to the "regular" CFL's that, at this point, I wouldn't even consider replacing my old bulbs with anything but full-spectrum ones, regardless of the higher cost; the improved "feng shui" vibe you get from them is worth a slight premium. This is my first experience with this brand, but manufacturing quality seems high. I'll post an edit if they start failing early. EDIT (12.10.11:) Just to let you know...since my original post, it's been about four years of heavy use and none of these have burned out. These would appear to be quality CFLs.

My girlfriend kept insisting on getting full-spectrum bulbs and I balked because they were marginally more expensive than other specialty CFLs. I relented, and these bulbs are now my favorite in the house. Their light is intense and clear, and mixes well with our natural sunlight in the daytime. This light works best in open spaces.

If you hate yellow, artificial light, get these! They emit a clean, white light that emulates the outdoors. I won't go back to normal bulbs.
