I just purchased this mount and have used it a few times. So far it has maintained a very good grip on my dashboard; it hasn't slipped an inch while I've been driving.
Unlike other friction mounts that require you to use your existing suction-cup mount in conjunction with their base, this item completely replaces your windshield mount, all you need is the bracket that clips onto the unit itself. Since it is a single piece, this unit should avoid having the problems that others have reported with similar mounts, mainly that their suction-cup mount doesn't always stay adhered.

The product works very well and sticks in place nicely. I gave it 5 stars because it is well made and does not slide around.

For my Magellan RoadMate 5120 I had to remove the attachment that fits on the ball and use the one that came with my RoadMate 5120. I had to enlarge slightly the threaded collar that tightens the attachment as the ball on this one was larger than the one my RoadMate came with.

The lowered area below the ball was half an inch too narrow for my RoadMate but the mount was so nice I decided to keep it.

The product works extremely well and has a silicone that really holds onto the dash. You might have to modify things to make it work for your GPS but it is worth the effort.

My RoadMate came with a suction cup base that was useless for my vehicle, this one works very nicely.

The Tightening ring, ball and thread are different size ( bigger) than the one that came with the Magellan RoadMate 2136t-lm mount; and by the way the ball is no only bigger but it protruded to one side as a result of bad quality control at the plastic molding factory. I can use it because it will no fit at all, tried to insert the ball in the original cradle that came with the Magellan, but the ball is to big that is useless for me.

This mount is actually a very good product. Please measure the distance between your windshield and dashboard to assure that there is ample room to use this product when attached to your gps. I didn't and was unable to use this product but I gave it to someone that can use it.

This is just what I needed for my Magellan Maestro GPS. Great price too. When I used to use the friction mount with the suction cup, I would always have to worry about the suction cup losing its suction and falling off and becoming an accident hazard while driving. With this unit there are no suction cups so you don't have to worry about a thing. Plus it takes up less space than the standard friction mounts and has a grippy plastic bottom which does away with the need for an adhesive hook which you must stick to your dash. Plus the swivel head can be easily adjusted for the right angle without having to untighten and tighten the tension.

The attachment it came with doesn't fit the Magellan I bought, but doesn't matter. I used the regular attachment that the GPS came with, just couldn't fit the screw piece on the back. Don't need either, fits snug enough to where it doesn't come out. Unit is nice and heavy and sticks great to the dash board. Bought this 9 months ago. Must have!

I actually bought this mount for a Magellan GPS. I returned the Magellan. Before returning this, I tried it as a mount for my wife's Garmin. It worked beautifully. I used it in my car, and let me tell you, it sticks to the dashboard. It is NOT glue, so the mount is removable. But that surface (which feels like some kind of rubber) just sticks to the dashboard. The mount does not move, no matter how sharp the turn. Just remember when you buy this to remove the paper on the base of the mount. The actual base of the mount is under the paper.

Very nice product. The design is great. No suction cups to wear out or lose grip, just a solid mounting unit for your GPS. The bottom of the base is different from other mounts I have. It's hard to describe, but trust me, this thing will not move from wherever you put it. It even works in my 4X4 which wasn't the case with previous mounts that I had.
