This review is from: SPQR: The Empire's Darkest Hour (CD-ROM)
There is a number of things a buyer should be aware of, when considering this game:

1. The description does NOT state what operating system this game requires! Check with the seller before you buy! (I played it on XP but I'm not sure abut the specific requirements...)

2. Even though the graphics are great, there is no action or interaction with other characters. You are ALONE in the city.

3. Some of the puzzles are really difficult to solve, and there are no clues to help you out. It is try try try try try -get annoyed- try try try try try - get really annoyed - try try try try try - (at this point you want to smash it to pieces) try try try try try - give up. The estimated learning time is set at 1.5 to 3 hours) I found the Atlantis puzzle games much more enjoyable.

4. If you are not a crazy teen gamer, you will likely need to get the companion 'cheat' book to get on with the game. Which will ruin the whole effect of the - solve it your self/ boggle your brain - thing.

This game is a point-and-click puzzle adventure in the style of Myst, SPQR pits you against the mysterious Calamitus, an anonymous enemy of the Empire who threatens its very existence in the year 205 A.D. You must uncover his identity before his machinations succeed in bringing down the state.

I know there are a lot of gamers who liked the game, but by large most people will find the same problems with the game.
