So many of these mini fridge/freezers get mixed or poor reviews but I needed to buy one to send off to college with my son so I tried to do my " homework" to find the best/most reliable one I could for the money. The Sunpentown, though being a brand totally unfamiliar to me, actually got very good reviews on the few sites I found that included it among other mini fridge brands reviewed. I decided to take a chance based on that and on the Amazon reviews. Got it about a week ago. Arrived intact, no damage to box shipped in or to the fridge itself. Plugged it in, turned thermostat to "3" as suggested. Fridge section got cold quickly and freezer section froze ice cubes in the included mini tray pretty quickly. Its also UNBELIEVEABLY QUIET! Don't know exactly what I was expecting re: noise levels but saw reviews on other mini fridge's with comments about high level of noise.....NOT THIS ONE. It's also seemingly well insulated as once it reached its thermostat setting, the compressor turned off and didn't come back on for quite a long time. We'll see how it does with 4hour transport to college next week. Will send follow up reviews as time goes by but "SO FAR, SO GOOD"

9/11/14 update...still going strong after a little over a year of college dorm use. No issues, no problems.

This seemed like a good mini-fridge for a 12'*16' building we had constructed near the pool, where we use it just to keep a few beers and sodas cold. The stainless steel is hard to find in this price range. Unfortunately, even with such light usage the compressor seems to run constantly; I can't remember going into the building and not hearing it. Last week I plugged it into an energy monitor device for an objective view, and sure enough it's an energy hog. Maybe it's because it's in an unshaded spot, but the structure is insulated and not hot to sit in (we have a home theater, bathroom, and shower room in this "man cave"). Will update this review as we go through autumn, just to see if the season shift changes things.

Wonderful desk side refrigerator/freezer. The separate freezer holds 13 TV dinners, 2 full sized ice cube trays, and two tubs of ice cream on the freezer door. The refrigerator has a fruit/vegetable drawer that holds 6 large granny smith apples, 15 clementine oranges, and still has room for more ! The refrigerator has 2 shelves and holds and unbelievable amount of food. In addition to all that, the door has a soda can dispenser that holds 5 cans plus a shelf to hold a bottle of rum and a bottle of Irish Cream, or bottles of mayonnaise or salad dressing, and then there is more! you can put chip dip or packages of sliced meat in the other shelf of the refrigerator door. Then the external design is beautiful with a black 3 sides and stainless steel front. The top of the refrigerator can hold a lamp, fresh water bottles, etc. Awesomely, functional unit at a very reasonable price. What more could you want sitting beside your desk?

Not too loud, small but can hold large drink items in door, this handsome little fridge has a real freezer, not just a cube tray in a compartment. So far, so good. They say to give it a LOT of room around it, we have less than the suggested 3-4 inches but the unit doesn't put out too much heat and it has been summertime.

First, I went back and forth between this fridge and several others that were less expensive, but I just kept coming back to this one. After a couple days browsing and researching, I finally made the decision to spend the $250 and go for the split fridge/freezer... The ones with a freezer compartment within the fridge never work very well and tend to require defrosting more regularly.

I love this fridge. It looks exactly the way it is pictured, although I did need to look elsewhere from Amazon for better detailed photos. I plugged it in and the next day I was ready to rock n' roll

It's about waist-height/ I might build a simple construction platform with black melamine for where I decided to put it in my office at work.

Got so many compliments on the unit so far.

It even has a light in the refrigerator portion. Freezer is a good size/ You can use a couple regular ice cube trays and still have room to put several items to keep frozen.

Thermostat seems to work well.

Fridge is roomy for it's size One shelf is removable if you need to have some height on occasion or permanently.

I hope it lasts for years!

If you order one, enjoy!

at first I thought it would be too small, but it fits my needs. It is quiet, most small ones are not.

When my new landlord said she'd install a new refrigerator for my one bedroom apartment, I didn't realize she meant a dorm size one.

* Really like the stainless steel (east to clean) exterior as it always looks great
* Must keep boxes of soda, beer, etc. outside as this refrigerator does not hold much at all (I take out a soda - add one from the adjacent box to cool it)
* Refrigerator works great. Ya just can't cook a lasagna or make potato salad and expect to store all your food inside of here. It's not big enough. It will hold a full gallon of milk though (fits on the shelf and you can still shut the door)
