4.0 out of 5 stars You Sirius?
I have the car kit and it works well with the FM tuner. It is a little tricky to wire but you should not need to pay for a pro to install it. I have a jeep so the cradle is a big problem. The device is big an bulky and blocks the entire middle of my winshield when attached with the suction cup provided with the car kit. I modified it by sticking the velcro like stips...

1.0 out of 5 stars Got trees? Don't buy this.
Last year I purchased the Sportster with boombox and car docking station. Installation difficulties have made it at best disappointing and at worst, useless.

Because of all the huge trees in Atlanta, positioning the boombox antenna is tricky. Once I did get it positioned on the deck, I found that reception was fine as long as I sat perfectly still. My...

The device is big an bulky and blocks the entire middle of my winshield when attached with the suction cup provided with the car kit. I modified it by sticking the velcro like stips they give you with EZ-Pass onto the cradle. I placed it between the steering wheel and stereo system. Its a little hard to see now, but at least its no longer a glowing beacon to the entire street at night.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Receiver and Boombox for great service!!, May 24, 2005
This review is from: Sportster SPTK1 Sirius Satellite Radio Plug-n-Play Receiver/Car Kit (Electronics)
As mentioned in my other satellite radio reviews, I have both Sirius and XM and I like Sirius much more than the XM. I like the music channels on Sirius more and Sirius has much more exclusive programming. The Sportster receiver and boombox is great for satellite radio on the move. Great for bringing it outdoors to a park or the beach, whatever. The only thing that I wish this receiver had is the ability to record. The inability to record and the fact that the Sirius Orbiter boombox that I had sounded a little better when playing crisp sounding highs. Overall a great boombox, just make sure that you buy some 4500mAh nickel-metal hydride rechargeable batteries with it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good unit, September 7, 2006
This review is from: Sportster SPTK1 Sirius Satellite Radio Plug-n-Play Receiver/Car Kit (Electronics)
The Sirius Sportster Replay is a great unit that provides a lot of functionality. The large display, multiple memory buttons, and large tuning dial, make it easy to use, especially while driving. The unit is a bit on the larger side, due to the plug-and-play feature, but is worth it, particularly if you often transfer your unit between your car and your house docking stations.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sportster rocks, December 28, 2005
This review is from: Sportster SPTK1 Sirius Satellite Radio Plug-n-Play Receiver/Car Kit (Electronics)
My girlfirend got me the sportster for x-mas because she knew I would be bumming without Howard Stern in the morn. Have had it hooked up 3 days now nd I love it. Reception hasnt been a problem. I set up the Boombox antenna in my window of my den and its been perfect with east/southeast view and the antenna for my jeep work fine as well. The FM transmitter works pretty good with my home stero and vehical but as I read clock radios dont work worth a darn, but I'll deal.

The channels are really where this service has blown me a way. even without stern on yet, there is so much to choose from. Ive been sucked into the electronic and hiphop nation channels. Sound quality isnt perfect but you only really notice the the weirdness on talk channels (tin can sound). Oh ya, when driving just make sure to keep your eyes on the road and not on the display as I have been doing, cant help it. Plain and simple this thing is cool and worth every penny, dont listen to the normal radio ads against sat radio. Only wish it would get the yankee games in the summer lol.

My slightest movement in any direction would cause the sound to cut out.

The car kit is billed as "plug and play." That may be accurate if you are an electronics engineer and don't have a convertible. Running the cable for the antenna from outside the rear window to the receiver on the dash is not exactly a snap. For most people, finding a place to position the receiver cradle is a problem too because it requires quite a bit of space and can interfere with such things as airbags and visibility.

Good luck--for those who can figure it out, satellite is worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars My husband thinks I am a Goddess, June 7, 2005
This review is from: Sportster SPTK1 Sirius Satellite Radio Plug-n-Play Receiver/Car Kit (Electronics)
I bought this handy little gadget for my husband for his birthday this year because: he is an NFL fanatic, he commutes, he loves Stern (who will be joining the Sirius network soon), and because I love him.

I shopped everywhere (both regular stores and online) but found that Amazon had the best prices and I feel secure shopping here. I bought it from amazon seller cellularshowroom.com. They were great to work with, had fast shipping, and the price was right. The best part - everything he needed to set it up and activate it was right in the box. The whole process took less than a half hour.

He was so thankful he actually mowed the lawn the very next day. The thing he likes the most about it is that it will let him know when his favorite team is playing. I don't like that feature because it means he'll change the station to the game while I'm enjoying Big 80s or SoulRevu. Anyway, since we were SOOO freakishly excited about joining the satellite radio community I bought a Streamer GT (and Home Kit and Boom Box) for myself. Martha Stewart, here I come! But that is a separate review......
