Should you choose to accept these daring reconnaissance missions, you'll travel to Panama, England, the Middle East, Venice, and other exotic locations around the world. Each location is rendered with a high degree of realism and provides recognizable landmarks and scenery. Throughout, you're the hunter as well as the hunted, pursued by enemies over land, on water, and in the air. Your mission is to take on NOSTRA, an out-of-control multinational corporation headed by an evil madman who's threatening the world.
As SpyHunter, you must always be ready for heavily armed enemy vehicles that lurk around every corner and strike at the first site of the Interceptor. But you have a steady supply of weapons trucks that load you up with machine guns, missiles, lasers, and counterattack weapons such as oil slicks, smoke screens, and cluster mines. Each successful attack gets you one step closer to revealing who SpyHunter is and what he's ultimately after.
The original SpyHunter was a vertically scrolling shoot-'em-up from the early '80s, inspired by the Lotus Esprit sequence from The Spy Who Loved Me. This sequel updates all the elements of the original with superb 3-D graphics but manages to maintain its manic arcade spirit.
In the basic gameplay, you drive your gadget-loaded spy car (which can also transform into a boat) through 14 courses while attempting to complete a variety of missions, such as blowing up prototype helicopters and defusing bombs. You only have to complete one mission to exit each course, but completing additional missions allows you access to subsequent levels.
SpyHunter is unquestionably the best marriage of a driving game and shoot-'em-up ever--and considering how many games have attempted this, that's no small compliment. Shallow it might be, but it's also great fun. --David Jenkins

This review is from: SPY HUNTER - GAME CUBE (Video Game)
Yeah! This game is smooth and exicting and fun! Let us get down to the Pros and Cons, and Review area:PROS CONS REVIEW The real deal: FUN: 5/5 Why? Because all the levels are heart-pumping action and the weapons assortment is great! GRAPHICS: 4/5 REPLAY VALUE: 4/5 APPROPIATE FOR ALL AGES: 4/5 THE BOTTOM LINE Fun, fun, and fun again. It is like playing Road Rash, Goldeneye 007, Porsche Challenge and Wave Race:Blue Storm all together. If you like anyone of those games, get it and don't regret it. The fact that it is a multi-game category is good, and I'd suggest this to all people. It features multi-player also, but you must finish all objectives in that perticular level to play it on multi-player mode. I recommend it, whatever the price.

Fun! For the first hour!,

...The game was fun at first, just driving around and blowing things up. I didn't mind the graphics at first, because I had not been playing anything else prior to this title. Well, the game is very simple: run around and blow things to smitherines, which is not necessarily a bad thing. But, the game could have been alot longer. There are a total of 14 missions in the game, and "cheats". These so-called "cheats" aren't cheats at all. By completing a level getting all the objectives and clocking in at a good time, you get access to some alteration of the normal game. But, they are not something that improves gameplay. The only fun "cheat" that you can get in this game is the SuperSpy option, which gives you unlimited ammo and life. But you have to get all 65 objectives in the game to access it. Don't worry though, I beat this game all the way in 10 hours. It was okay, for when it lasted. Now to the technical parts...This game is a direct port from the PS2. It was good for the PS2, but it cannot pump out as much graphical power as the GameCube, which makes the game look horrendous whenever you have other games in your library made for the GameCube. They ported everything from the PS2, including loading times. It takes too long to get into a mission, and is especially annoying if you select the wrong one. The CGs are compressed, which makes them look smudged and sloppy. Overall, I felt ripped off after picking this game up. I didn't plan to spend $[money]for a 10 hour game. I have gotten more life out of most of my Game Boy Advance games! The only reason that it got 3 stars is that it was fun while it lasted. The controls are simple, but you won't ever really need the defensive weapons, save for the smoke. I would not recommend picking up this game: it was too short for me.

I used to own this game for my ps2, and it was good when I first got it, but then by the time I got to the tenth level, I realized that every level was almost exactly the same. The primary objective in each level was the only thing different, but the secondary objectives were almost the same in every level. Find all the satcoms, blow up all the radar towers, place a tracking device on all the trucks; all of it got really old and I found myself not wanting to play it. Some people may like repitive arcade shooters like this one, but I'm not crazy about it. My advise to you is just to rent this one before you buy.
