SPYWARE X-TERMINATOR BY STOMP

Okay, I've been fighting spyware, adware, mal-ware ,etc, for over a year now.
Started with Xcleaner, then added Spysweeper, now added
Spyware X-terminator.
[FYI, This product(Spyware X-terminator) appears to be
a re-labeled package of PESTPATROL.
Which is fine, as the price is CHEAPER when labeled as
Spyware X-terminator, than it is when labeled as Pestpatrol].
Anyway, as of now, June 2004, I can't find any SINGLE product that does it all.
I give Spysweeper 5 stars and I give Spyware X-terminator 5 stars.
Both are great products, but each seems to find a couple items that the other doesn't.
Personally, if you can afford it, I'd get both.
Mal-ware [including Spyware, adware, unwanted cookies, etc] has many ugly faces and you need to detect and destroy as many of them as you can.
Xcleaner was my very first anti-spyware package. But it is a multi-purpose tool, but doesn't have the depth of detection abilities that Spysweeper and Spyware X-terminator do.

This has to be the best spyware out there, ease of use and catches 100% of the pests that are out there. I have tried so-called freebies such as "spy-bot" and "Adaware" but theyre NOT in the same league. So i guess you get what you pay for.

This is a really good software product that catches a very high proportion of spyware. I work in IT security and would have to say this is probably the best at this task. Why a stingy three stars? User interface isn't the easiest to work with (very minor complaint it's not too bad) and price.

One of the previous reviewers mentioned his firewall wasn't stopping spyware - it isn't meant to. This package is just an element of security, it wont even catch all spyware (as a previous reviewer stated running more than 1 spyware detector helps - I would suggest running Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware SE. Spybot was written buy a German guy but supports many languages including English. Both are free - Spybot S&D does solicit donnations (do consider).

If you want to ensure good all round security (you will never get to 100%, if you do, you'll be rich!), don't get a false sense of security by runnning just one security program. Make sure you run:
* Virus Software
* Firewall Software
* Anti Adware/Spyware software

If you have cable / DSL use a hardware router (you can have more than one PC online and improve security). This is a small element of security at a high price (when considering NORTON and McAfee provide a complete suite for $50 pa). In combination, Ad-aware and Spybot S&D surpass this product - the same can be said for the Norton and McAfee spyware detectors.

I installed Stomp SpyWare X-terminator on my computer but the software did not install everything listed in booklet. An example of this failure was the KeyPatrol portion of this software was nowhere present at all. Nothing was listed under the Options Main Tab and Automatic Scans Subtab as described in book. This portion of the software DOES NOT WORK. STOMP has refused to correct this problem. Be very worried about support from STOMP on matters involving their software. THEY WILL NOT HELP FIX PROBLEMS WITH THEIR SOFTWARE. It will be up to you to try and add the MISSING PROGRAM CODE TO MAKE IT WORK RIGHT.
