2.0 out of 5 stars Errors abound, February 10, 2000
By
This review is from: SQL from the Ground Up (Paperback)
After reading just 3 chapters of this text, I was forced to put it to rest. The number of errors, particularly in the examples, were frustrating and confusing. I am an IT professional. My company would never accept work that wasn't as error-free as possible. Obviously, the editors are not placed under similar expectations.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too many errors!, January 28, 2000

I can't believe this was the required textbook for my "Introduction to Oracle" class. Luckily I had taken an earlier class that covered the basics of SQL, because this book has so many errors in the examples that it can be very confusing. I'm very disappointed in the quality of the proof-reading of this text.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good book but not the best, July 25, 2001
This review is from: SQL from the Ground Up (Paperback)
This book does not properly match my requirements because I had expected a more advanced book on SQL before I bought this one but it still is an OK book to have. (the title says 'from the group UP' so I thought that it would take me up to be an expert SQL scriptor) It gives me lots of basic SQL commands such as SELECT, INSERT, CREATE TABLE, etc.. but not complex commands to use in real situations. So if you are an SQL novice, this book will do but if you are looking for SQL book for using as a referrence book, try to find another book.
