Editorial Reviews

This DVD is divided into several parts. Part I covers the history of the SR-71. Includes scenes of the aircraft at Lockheed assembly plant "Skunk Works," Edwards and Beale Air Force Bases. Part II documents the recording breaking flights of the SR-71, including the 1974 New York to London flight by Air Force Majors Sullivan and Widdifield, and the London to Los Angeles flight by Capt. Adam and Major Machorek. Part III features interviews with SR-71 pilots at Beale AFB concerning a typical day and preparations. Part IV features the SR-71 in various take-offs, landings, taxi, and hangar activities at Beale AFB in 1968. Also includes YF-12A (Edwards AFB, California), 02/1965. Documentary coverage of: YF-12A new world-record speed runs showing air crews, Col. Robert L. Stephens and Lt. Col. Daniel Andre during record speed flight of 2,062 MPH on 1 May 65; the men greeting families after flight and being congratulated by Maj. Gen. Irving L. Branch, Cmdr. AFFTC, and Clarence L. Johnson, vice president, Lockheed. Also shows Maj. Warner & Maj. Daniel preparing for and in post-flight activity after their speed run.

The first copy I received was faulty, but Traditional Military Videos replaced it very quickly.

As an SR-71 Blackbird fan, I was extremely disappointed in the video's quality and poor story line. There are better videos in the marketplace and I'd suggest readers check them out over this version.
