5.0 out of 5 stars SRAM XO twist shifters
I hesitated going to twist shifters because I feared the "ghost shifting" described for some brands, but I needed to switch due to arthritis in my thumb that hurt when using my old trigger shifters. This product is made in China or Taiwan and it shows. The plastic parts have rough edges like the product is unfinished, some parts are silver, some parts are gray and some are black. Grips are wide and can be cut to the desired width. One side of the grip is finished with the close end. This will allow you to put these grips without adding extra bar ends. Clicks are...

I've had the SRAM XO twist shifters for 2 years now and they have performed flawlessly. No ghost shifting, really easy to use. You will change gears more often once you get used to them. I would not go back to trigger shifters even if my arthritis disappeared. These are just a great product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lightning Shifts!!!, May 18, 2010

Combined with the SRAM X0 rear derailleur- this combo simply puts Shimano XTR to shame. SRAM and 1:1 actuation ratio, is the BEST DEAL around.....fair and square. Unlike Shimano's 2:1 ratio, which is known for vague shifting and unexpected ghost shifts- the SRAM X0 combo brings butter-smooth, distinguishable shifts, without FAIL....each and every time!

It is no wonder why all the World Cup XC pros use X0 twisters. Where alse can you dump ALL GEARS on a single turn, either way? NOWHERE...that's where! Until Shimano can outdo SRAM's 1:1 actuation- SRAM X0 is the true KING of mtb drivetrains.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great shifters, April 14, 2010

These are fast to shift and lightweight. Some people complain about ghost shifting with twist shifters, but it hasn't been a problem for me. I find myself shifting much more often since I switched from rapidfire-type shifters; it's just so much easier to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars SRAM X0 Twist shift, April 8, 2011

Excellent product, shifts very accurately with its 1:1 actuation. A lot of twist shifters are somewhat inaccurate at selecting the gear you want, especially when changing down several gears at a time. I have paired these up with the SRAM X0 derailleur and always have flawless shifts. With the limit screws set up correctly on my derailleurs I have never had problems with the chain coming off with over shifts. Only con is that they are a little more expensive than alternative shifters, but not so expensive that you can't justify their price. Overall very good performance for the money.

long time trigger guy...bent a shifter and went cheap. Really glad I did. These things are cheaper, easier, lighter and more dependable. If you wreck...it's highly unlikely the shifter will be damaged..unlike the triggers. Probably gonna stay gripshift now.

I put these shifters on my Fatback snow/sand bike and my wife's Pugsley and they work great and can easily be shifted with heavy winter gloves on. All my bikes have Sram shifters of some kind and they perform very consistently with minimal maintenance.

I bought these gripshifts without ever using gripshifts before in my life. Why? Because I am cheap and I didn't want to pay 100-200 dollars for nice shifters. At first you will accidently shift when you hit rocks and other obstacles but then you get used to it and that problem stops. The shifting is fantastic! I have these shifters pairs with a shimano XT front deraileur and a sram x.9 rear deraileur and I rarely ever have any issues. I can shift while standing up and pedaling hard, shift going up hills, shift 3-4 gears with less than one rotation of the crank. These shifters just work. For fun, I tried shifting from 3-1 on left and 9-1 on right so 27 gears all at once and it does it in about 1-2 crank rotations flawlessly. Another great thing about these shifters is the maintenance. They pretty much stay tuned and are less likely to break than trigger shifter because they are built on a simple design. Replacing the cable is also very easy. You pop open a hole on the shifters, push a locking mechanism aside and pull out the old cable. Then you just slide the new cable right in. The only bad thing about this product was actually the rubber grips that sram included extra with the gripshifts. They fell apart really quick. I know run these with ergon grips and love it. For the money, I do not think you can find better shifters than these for pure performance yet alone for how light they are. Sram rates them as I think their second lightest shifter. Their lightest is about 3 times more expensive.

Turns out that they were the incorrect ratio for my rear der., but, they were of a very high quality. Returned/refunded with no issues.

These grip shifts work but for the price they should be better designed and better made.
