a fine chain,

This is an economical replacement for my commuter bike chain. It was easy to install and I didn't even need to shorten the length of 114 links. It's already got more than 1000 miles on it and it's holding up just fine according to my chain tool.

Good, inexpensive chain,

This chain is a great value and works just fine for the application I wanted it for. (Commuter bike.) I wouldn't put it on my road bike, but it's a great value for the price and the chain quality is way above average.

I love SRAM chains. They are so easy to take apart and clean and they last a long time. The PC-830 doesn't last as long as the higher end ones, but it's still a good chain, and at 10 bucks, you can't really go wrong. You can just get a new chain every time it's dirty and it wouldn't cost that much. Or, spend 5 bucks more and get the PC-850, which will last longer.

I have been running Sram chains for years and find them strong and smooth running. Keep them clean and they will last you a very long time. I put 3000 miles on the last one before I had a failure which was attributed to lack of maintenance. I have a chain cleaner now things should be much smoother.

First chain I've ever bought for a trek mountain bike bought in 2003.It's feels lubed out of the container and I became familiar with the master link. I had to do my research on what it took to replace the chain and cassette. It all worked out very well. The master link looks interesting and am curious how I'll change out the chain in the future, but I'll deal with it when the time comes. With a mild winter, I've had a few times for short distances and it has been like butter.

This chain was priced lower than most and installed more easily than expected with the master link (with plate and clip). I presume the quality lies in hardness of the steel which I am not able to discern with the naked eye. Usually, blued steel implies it has been heat treated or tempered for extra hardness. I did not see any blued steel, and do not know if higher price chains would provide this property. I have ridden on this chain regularly for several months since its purchase, and have had no issue with it. Considering this chain is a standard chain, easy to install, remove (for cleaning and replacement), and low priced, I would recommend the purchase of this chain without reservation.

this is the 1st time i've ever replaced a chain. I can't say anything bad about this item.my bike rides exponentially more smoother than it did. Installation was simple. Removing the quicklink is tricky (i accidentally forgot to route it through the front derailleur) but with some determination it'll come off. it seems very well-constructed and makes my bike ride like brand-new

I purchased both this and the 850 model. I thought that the 850 model would have beveled edges and be a slicker-looking chain, but I tell you what, I couldn't tell the difference just looking at them. I had to keep looking at the part number on the box to be able to tell them apart as I was installing them on my two mountain bikes.I haven't put many miles on these chains but they are both very nice, smooth chains. The included master link makes them very easy to install, and with a standard chain breaker (I borrowed a friend's) the process doesn't take long at all. If I were to do it again, I would just buy two of these 830 model chains and call it a day.

SRAM/Sachs should be enshrined in a bicycle components hall of fame for these powerlinks. after snapping the factory shimano chain on my next power x mtb (yes, from walmart), my life was forever transformed when i found out about connecting links. shouldn't have come as a surprise that this mostly made-in-mass-produced-society-china bike would need one of its pieces changed out within less than a calendar year.. but i digress.out of the package, this chain already comes lubed. it's made for a max of 9 speeds, but fits perfectly & works fine on 6 w/o any cutting. obviously, then, it will be fine on a 7 or 8 speed w/o cutting, depending on gear shift preferences. btw, i have a RD-TZ20 derailleur (also shimano) which seems to be behaving with this chain. it should be noted, emphatically, that i have put almost no maintenance into the shimano chain, so this review is not meant to bash it. needless to say, with routine lubing of your bike hardware, any parts should last years, plural. as for installing (as others have said about powerlinks), you might be frustrated at first, but the ever-pleasing youtube has several clips (even from mother russia) on how to connect these and remove them. will update in a few mos. for now.. 4 stars.
