5.0 out of 5 stars best ever loo seat
This is the best ever toilet seat. With just a flick of the finger the seat or lid closes itself gently and silently. Guys have no excuse for not putting the seat back down - they don't even have to bend all the way down to do it now. Its also a comfortable and easy to clean seat. I have them installed in wherever we live - we move quite a bit so even in rental properties...

I purchased this as a replacement for my Toto Ultramax. Unfortunately, was very disappointed when the product arrived to discover it is not the model pictured on Amazon's website. Refer to my uploaded photos... the hinge on the rear is not overlapping like Amazon's photo. Also, this toilet seat is roughly 1/2 inch shorter in length (see my other uploaded image) so that it looks pretty stupid on the Ultramax. The seat is flatter (not as concave) as the manufacturers and has this odd convex lip on the back for hinges. Feels like you're sitting on a speed bump. Not worth the $50 bucks in my opinion.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, one size does not fit all, July 5, 2010

I really wanted to like this toilet seat. A good friend has them in her high-end home, and the reviews were good. I also like the soft-close feature. However, once the seats were installed, my 6'3" husband couldn't fit on the seat. It turns out that the soft close mechanism reduces the seat itself by 1" in length. Inside hole is 11.5" long vs. 12.5" for Kohler Cachet (replacement seat).

4.0 out of 5 stars Good toilet seat, March 28, 2009

Since my commercial-type open-front, no-lid Olsonite toilet seat broke, much to my horror, I've been looking for a replacement of equal comfort but better cosmetics and a lid. A neighbor had this one. The seat comfort is definitely better than average, close to the form-fitting Olsonite. The Softclose lid is the deal-maker. You can try to "slam" the seat down, but it just slowly floats down with nary a sound, seat followed by lid. No more bending to lower for fear of calunking. Except for the warm-water squirter types of seats, these are state of the art. Mine fits my standard toilet quite well. Minor drawback: the bottom of the seat has a concave surface and and the rear has some extra surfaces, which slightly complicate cleaning. No biggy. Dumb marketing move: calling white "cotton". No real complaint; I'm just withholding one star in the hope that there's a comfort breakthrough out there somewhere that will make me want to spend the day on the throne.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality, OK comfort, January 18, 2011

Purchased two of these in sedona beige for our new Toto Drake II elongated toilets. They are a perfect match in fit and color with the Toto toilets. The seat/lid is a simple attractive style, to the extent these things can be called attactive. They seem sturdy for plastic and fit tightly with the screws, etc. that were provided. The soft close feature works nicely for both the seat and the lid, although it is quite slow in closing. The only problem is one of comfort. We are getting used to them and it is not a major problem but these seats indent indward rather than being flat like the older style seats. Flat seats are definitely more comfortable. I've done quite a bit of reearch, on-line and on my backside in plumbing stores. I have not found a single slow-closing elongaged toilet seat that is flat. It is a take-it-or-leave-it situation if you want this style seat. I can tell you that the Toto seat is still far more comfortable than the Kohler Cachet elongated seats (which match and fit the Toto toilet nicely ). The Kohler Cachet indents inward even more.

The seat is fine, no issues. I don't think it's any better than a $30 seat you can find at Home Depot but this matches my Toto toilet better. Keep in mind, that this seat comes with a regular bolt/nut mount kit which won't work on skirted Toto toilets like my Aquia II. You will need to find a top mount kit.

One thing about these polypropylene toilet seats is that they are usually COLD and not comfortable in cold days to sit on, but not this one. it is even warmer than the wood molded one replaced. It's sleek, shining and so comfortable.

Just ordered another one from Amazon.

Love it! I've always been disappointed with the way toilet seats "wobble" at the hinges. This seat has solid joints and just 1 piece that goes across the 2 plastic screws to eliminate shifting. The actual seat isn't so bad either...

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent product -- for those who shop carefully, August 20, 2011

As has been already noted (and carefully documented in photos by other Amazon reviewers) this toilet seat is NOT the one in the Amazon.com photo -- the lid does not bend down around the back as depicted. I don't know why Amazon.com has not corrected this yet, but until they do, you will have to rely on these reviews and the helpful photos (with pop-up pointers) to discern the difference.

Also, you should know if your toilet is ROUND or ELONGATED; a tape measure will be helpful if you can't tell the difference. Order the right shape lid for your toilet if you expect it to fit properly.

Installation of this seat was a breeze - I was done in less than 5 minutes. Fit (on my round toilet) was perfect. Color is white and toilet is white, and matched well.

Closing mechanism is smooth and quiet - as hoped for. Yes, there is minor resistance when opening the lid to "re-arm" the mechanism; it should not slow down anyone who can comfortably lift a wristwatch.

Seat is comfortable and stable; I don't know what problems the reviewers who are complaining about it shifting or bending under them are having, but maybe they like to breakdance while on the can, or something.

All in all, a very satisfactory purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice toilet seat. About what you expect for $30, July 4, 2011

This review is from: TOTO SS114-01 Transitional SoftClose Elongated Toilet Seat, Cotton White (Tools & Home Improvement)
This toilet seat is nice and works well. Both the toilet seat and lid close softly and quietly. Takes about 7-10 seconds to close.

It was very easy to install.

The seat does shift right and left a little bit. There isn't anything you can do about that, as it moves where the seat and lid connect to the hinge, not where the hinge connects to the toilet.

The plastic lid does feel like it caves in a little if you sit on it, and I am not a heavy person at all.

It fits nicely on my American standard toilet. The width does fall about 5 mm short on each side, but does not look tacky at all.

I would recommend this toilet seat in this price range.
