Very light and twist-locks when in use.

The foam handle is on there pretty good but you can tell with use it will become damaged and the bottom is plastic but no big deal.

Used it handheld for underwater use, used it Maui over 12 days, rinsed it in fresh water after every use... Still works perfect!!

I received this at no cost in exchange for writing a review. Here are my comments.

1. I am using this with my GoPro Hero 3 Silver. I have not yet done extensive testing, but so far I am impressed when comparing this to my GoPole REACH, which cost me more than double what this product sells for.

2. While it's clear that the GoPole has superior quality--nicer finish, thicker tubes, better handle grip, etc.--so far this product functions just as well.

Note: Some reviews say this can't be used as a monopod. Not true. When I take videos on the beach I often fully extend my GoPole, stand it up vertically, and then pan the scene by turning it. No reason I can't do the same thing with this product. Of course this is not as tall as a traditional monopod and is only for a light camera like the GoPro.

3. In fact, some people may find this easier to use this than the GoPole, which requires twisting tubes in order to collapse and extend them. By contrast this product has three levers that are easy to flip back and forth to release the tubes.

4. Fully extended this is 46" (not 48" as advertised), while the GoPole is only 40". That's because this product has four sections rather than three. Yet collapsed this is actually an inch shorter than the GoPole.

5. The GoPro attachment on the GoPole is fixed in place and is part of the pole. It can't be replaced if I break it--I would have to buy a whole new GoPole. By contrast the GoPro attachment for this unit screws on and off, so if it broke or got lost, presumably I could buy a replacement.

Used it handheld for underwater use, used it Maui over 12 days, rinsed it in fresh water after every use... Still works perfect!! at a third of the cost of underwater monopods.

I took this scuba diving with my GoPro Hero3+. It worked very well. The extension of the monopod is good and the mount for the camera is secure (I used a GoPro Hero camera mount, not the one provided in the package). The handle dries out pretty quickly in comparison to my other scuba diving gear.

The reason why I don't give it 5 stars are two-fold. One, the metal arm where the tripod mount screws in looks to be rusting after 5 days of consecutive use. Two, sometimes it is difficult to twist the body to lock the monopod so that it doesn't collapse. But overall, I highly recommend this product for GoPro scuba divers

Monopods are great for slight stabilization of cameras. Not as good as a tripod, better than handholding, these small accessories are easy to carry. This monopod is actually an extension pole for lightweight cameras and GoPros. So it's a "selfie-stick", not a monopod, per se, if you have used those in past for photography.

1. 48" is four feet. As you can see, this is not one of those monopods you rest on the ground

2. The base is on the handle portion. There are two heads, one for a camera and one for a GoPro. It is small and light, can fit in a very small camera bag, collapsed, it's about 12" long.

3. It's totally unsuitable for a DSLR or heavier camera. The clamps are thin plastic. The pole is thin aluminum. This is for a lightweight video or point-and-shoot camera. Obviously, a big zoom lens on the end of your camera is a no, as well.

4. It is useful for a light point-and-shoot or a GoPro. You can poke it up into someone's window or hide in a bush and stick it out the leafy margin. Watch out for cameras on sticks, I guess is all I can say.

Basically, you'd be using this as an extension pole, to put the camera or videocam where you can't reach; up a tree, out a window, over the side of a boat. It is NOT a standard monopod for still shooting based on the ground. For that, you'd want the AmazonBasics 67-Inch Monopod which is over five feet tall and more suited to the purpose. However, for a "selfie stick" or an extension, this is extremely light weight and can add some function to your point-and-shoot or GoPro.

Well, this is simply a leg off of a tripod ( lower quality kind that you would find at say best buy for about 60$)
the tilt head has the gear teeth cut into it so when you set in into place, and lock it down it is not going to move unless you break it..
The tripod mount works and is just a standard GoPro tripod mount, you can also use it with your dslr, or point and shoot or even your cell phone as it has the standard 1/4X20 thread.
The foam handle is on there pretty good but you can tell with use it will become damaged and the bottom is plastic but no big deal.

Perfect I searched everywhere for the right pole. Iv used it at concerts, out cars doing 100mph. It's awesome. I used the gopro hero 3 black. You need to add a washer to the mount to make it seal tight then it's amazing.

Great monopod! I've received several of these in different styles for test and review. Likewise this was a review sample. This is one of the nicer monopods I've seen and tested. It feels sturdy, holds the camera securely and works easily doing what I want.

Overall, if you're in the market for a good monopod, and I am seeing them everywhere, this is a solid purchase.
