Great "little" Wonder, March 26, 2008
This review is from: SSmini Styling Iron: Professional Series model #1945 (Misc.)
I really love this "LITTLE" flat iron, and it is unbelieveably small. It gets pretty hot which is good for my hair because it's thick and curly, and it's size makes it great to throw in your purse or backpack and go - the heat resistant pouch it came makes this really easy - no waiting for the iron to cool down! If I were going to make any changes, I would put a bit more insulation in the tip so that you could hold the end. The end gets really hot and although they did send a heat resistant glove with the flat iron, that's a nuisance to wear. Except for that, I just love it. Since it does get really hot and there's no temperature adjustment, it might be too hot for people with fine hair?!?

DON'T EXPECT TOO MUCH ..., May 30, 2008
This review is from: SSmini Styling Iron: Professional Series model #1945 (Misc.)
... AND YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.
I purchased this tiny flat iron for an upcoming vacation. And it really is small enough to carry in a medium-sized purse.
DOES IT WORK?
It gets very hot in a few short minutes. Beware -- since there's so little plastic casing, the ends of the iron get much too hot to hold closed, if that's what you're used to doing with a larger flat iron. I'm sure that's why a "heat glove" is included. I didn't try it out since the point of this purchase was to be able to travel light. I don't want extra stuff to tote around.
The mini iron does straighten the wave out of my hair, though not quite as thoroughly as a full-sized iron. And, it doesn't achieve that beautiful shine and swing I get with a larger iron.
On the plus side, I was surprised that, even with my medium-long medium-thick hair, doing my entire head took only a few minutes longer than using a regular-sized 2"-wide flat iron.
The bonus "pouch" is actually a sleeve for the iron only. I would have preferred a true pouch that was large enough to hold the cord as well.
I'm going to end up taking a regular-sized flat iron on my trip. The mini is going into the glove compartment of my car, for emergencies only.

Not the best mini iron..., December 5, 2009
This review is from: SSmini Styling Iron: Professional Series model #1945 (Misc.)
I tried this iron once and returned it. Unfortunately, it has a few design issues. It's low price was attractive, but I think in this case the price matched the quality. The size of the iron versus the weight of the power cord was the first issue -- the cord swings around and makes the iron hard to manage. Secondly, the plates on the iron didn't close flush with each other, so it didn't hold the hair, and didn't glide over hair. I don't think the iron got very hot either, but hard to tell, as I was struggling with the cord and the space between the plates. So... my advice is: don't buy this one.
