4.0 out of 5 stars Great "little" Wonder
I really love this "LITTLE" flat iron, and it is unbelieveably small. It gets pretty hot which is good for my hair because it's thick and curly, and it's size makes it great to throw in your purse or backpack and go - the heat resistant pouch it came makes this really easy - no waiting for the iron to cool down! If I were going to make any changes, I would put a bit...

It gets pretty hot which is good for my hair because it's thick and curly, and it's size makes it great to throw in your purse or backpack and go - the heat resistant pouch it came makes this really easy - no waiting for the iron to cool down! If I were going to make any changes, I would put a bit more insulation in the tip so that you could hold the end. The end gets really hot and although they did send a heat resistant glove with the flat iron, that's a nuisance to wear. Except for that, I just love it. Since it does get really hot and there's no temperature adjustment, it might be too hot for people with fine hair?!?

... AND YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

I purchased this tiny flat iron for an upcoming vacation. And it really is small enough to carry in a medium-sized purse.

DOES IT WORK?
It gets very hot in a few short minutes. Beware -- since there's so little plastic casing, the ends of the iron get much too hot to hold closed, if that's what you're used to doing with a larger flat iron. I'm sure that's why a "heat glove" is included. I didn't try it out since the point of this purchase was to be able to travel light. I don't want extra stuff to tote around.

The mini iron does straighten the wave out of my hair, though not quite as thoroughly as a full-sized iron. And, it doesn't achieve that beautiful shine and swing I get with a larger iron.

On the plus side, I was surprised that, even with my medium-long medium-thick hair, doing my entire head took only a few minutes longer than using a regular-sized 2"-wide flat iron.

The bonus "pouch" is actually a sleeve for the iron only. I would have preferred a true pouch that was large enough to hold the cord as well.

I'm going to end up taking a regular-sized flat iron on my trip. The mini is going into the glove compartment of my car, for emergencies only.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the best mini iron..., December 5, 2009
This review is from: SSmini Styling Iron: Professional Series model #1945 (Misc.)
I tried this iron once and returned it. Unfortunately, it has a few design issues. It's low price was attractive, but I think in this case the price matched the quality. The size of the iron versus the weight of the power cord was the first issue -- the cord swings around and makes the iron hard to manage. Secondly, the plates on the iron didn't close flush with each other, so it didn't hold the hair, and didn't glide over hair. I don't think the iron got very hot either, but hard to tell, as I was struggling with the cord and the space between the plates. So... my advice is: don't buy this one.

This item was delivered very fast and I liked the size of it. But the one I received did not work that well because the two heating plates did not have a nice even contact when pressed. I did not like the fact that you have to ware a glove (included) when using this flat iron because the whole thing gets very hot. Also, even though the unit itself is small, the cord is just as bulky as any flat irons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Silky shiny hair but REALLY gets HOT, May 1, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this product on sale last summer. Because it's so tiny and gets so hot, it took a few tries to learn how to use it without burning my fingers! Now that I have the hang of it, for the price, there is no flat iron that gets my hair as curly, shiny & straight as the Slik Stik. It heats up in under a minute and really does the job. Some tips for protecting your hair while using this product: 1. Use a heat protection spray 2. Keep moving - don't let the iron stay in one spot or it will burn your hair. 3. Don't use it every day - again, this iron get HOT.

I see no difference between this iron and the hundred dollar mini irons I have tried. Unfortunately, the connection to the plug kind of faded on me after 8 months so I had to buy a new one, but at $15 bucks, so what? Even my high end hair stylist pulled out a Slik Stik to use on my hair. It's a really great product and now I can't go back to any other iron. They just don't get hot enough and the curls don't last. This is a product that works but you must use it carefully.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy flat iron, August 11, 2008
This review is from: SSmini Styling Iron: Professional Series model #1945 (Misc.)
I've recently cut my hair short and needed flat irons that were thin enough to get close to the scalp. I bought this pair in conjunction with a standard size pair so that I could tote them in my purse "just in case" I needed a touch up. They get EXTREMELY hot within a matter of seconds, which is amazing for irons this small. They straighten with the same strength as the standard irons as well. Just beware because they have the potential to burn both your hair and your hands because they are so small and get so hot. Overall, I would definitely recommend these flat irons because they serve the purpose of touching up your hair when you are on the go!

I purchased this mini iron for my edges after receiving a dramatically short hair cut. The Flat Iron does heat up quickly. The only thing I suggest is ironing a thicker section of hair. The spring is not that strong, or maybe my plates don't touch each other. Whatever the case when I do my edges my hair slips frm between the plates. Otherwise, the product is a must have.
