This is a comprehensive guide for the new owner. It covers such topics as selecting the right dog, characteristics of the breed, health care, grooming, and training. It also includes the history of the breed.

The book seems to have some very outdated views in dog training and communication. Like that part where it stated we need to assert our dominance by not letting Staffies sleep with us. That "dominance theory" has no support within the scientific community. Also I have several Staffies and never had any problems with any of them sleeping in my bed. And I never felt i had to "assert" myself with some strange rituals like feeding myself first or stuff like that.

This was the first book purchased on my dog, I thought it was pretty good (but very basic), at covering topics, but there is better books on staffys out there!
