I saw this tool in the clearance section for cheap at Walmart and thought it looked pretty neat, so I bought it. The tool is a very sturdy tool and seems extremely durable. However when I got home I wanted to try it out and I was a little disappointed. After you loosen/tighten a nut and want to rachet the wrench back for another turn, you have to flip the switch; after you have "racheted" it back, you have to flip the switch again. And on the particular wrench that I have, flipping the switch back and forth is very difficult. Mine may be broken, but it seems to me like it is working normally. This was not how I imagined the tool would work. In the description, it states "It also offers a locking feature that allows [the] user to easily switch between ratcheting and non-ratcheting functionality." This would lead one to believe that it has two options for overall use: One, just a plain adjustable wrench. And two, a racheting adjustable wrench. This is simply not the case because you have to constantly switch between lock and unlock while using it in order for it to be a ratcheting adjustable wrench. You might as well just take the wrench off and manually reset it for another turn.

I have no problem with Stanley tools. One of my favorite tools that I use the most is the Stanley socket wrench that has the double drive feature where you can twist the handle to keep it moving in one direction (you may have seen it advertised on TV by the Kobalt brand instead). But this particular tool, I'm afraid to say, was a bit of a disappoint. I will continue to use it, however, as just a basic adjustable wrench and rachet it manually, because the tool succeeds in this aspect.

So bottom line is that the adjustable wrench part of this tool is just fine and works perfectly and solidly. But the racheting functionality, in my opinion, could use some work.

It works but you have to treat it different than wrenches and adjustables. When attempting to reset you have release pressure to disengauge the clutch. Could be made a liittle better but can be useful .

I bought this at a big box store and came home and read these reviews thinking I will return it. I just used it to take apart a child bicycle seat and found a feature I really like. The wrench can be adjusted with a slight pre-load using the ratchet feature. Just tighten on a nut until snug and then tighten a little more so the wrench pivot starts pivoting. Then when you start turning it grips the nut tighter and it will still ratchet over the nut. This tighter gripping, combined with the maximum opening of 1-5/8 inch means I will keep it. Previous ratcheting wrenches I used had the nose of one jaw cut off which meant the nose could not be used to turn smaller nuts. This one can. It is a great general purpose wrench.

This wrench does not ratchet! Stay far away. It is hard for me to believe that a reputable company like Stanley would sell this piece of junk.
