This gum has a purpose-stay awake. It is not enjoyable like regular gum, but it works. No jitters, just keeps ya going. Great for the long road trip when coffee is not available. Bitterness arrives within a couple minutes. At first it is not fun-but after a little time you get use to it. I find if you stop chewing it for awhile, by placing it between the cheek a gum, the bitterness goes away. You can then alternate between chewing and resting. I recommend using it as needed.

This stuff works fast. Real fast. Seems to absorb into the mucous membranes of your mouth so the effect is instant. It is like injecting espresso into your veins. I chew one of these in the morning and I can skip the coffee. I keep a pack beside my bed just in case I don't want to get up in the morning. If I chew a piece of this I don't have a choice.

One drawback is the inevitable bitter taste. Caffeine is bitter and at 100mg of Caffeine a piece it is impossible to hide. Still though, who is chewing this for the flavor? A pack of this will keep you up all night and all the next day.

These work in minutes--which is fantastic (especially when I'm suddenly sleepy in the car or at a meeting) and they don't give me heartburn like coffee can (and, hooray, because it's gum & not liquid, it also keeps me from needing the bathroom a million times, like coffee, tea, or soda--which is AWESOME!). They travel well too. The only thing I don't like is the taste after about 2 minutes (they say to chew it for 5 minutes) and there are times I just can't chew it the whole time becuase the taste is just bitter and icky--HOWEVER, the gum works SO well for me that I have started associating the bitter taste with waking up/perking up, so I'm getting used to it. I will definitely buy it again--I'm really, really psyched to have found it.

A year ago i tried the Cinnamon gums, primarely used them on exercises with the military, and they did the job very well! although they didn't taste very good...
But these new Arcic mint gums really put up with that - this is the perfect caffein kick for whem you really need it (i dont normally drink coffee, don't know how good they work if you drink coffee daily, but they should contain as much caffein as 1 cup)

Received the gun two days back, and been loving. Initially I was a little hesitant to eat it because I was expecting its bitterness to hit my mouth as soon as I chewed it (thats the idea I got from some of the reviews) but honestly its not bitter AT ALL. In fact, my normal coffee tastes more bitter than this. Its a great alternative to coffee or energy drinks. I consume a lot of caffeine and used to drink a lot of Monster but now this works as a great substitute. I would have to say it is effective, partly because of the 100mg of caffeine, and partly because of the placebo effect.

Loving it and probably gonna be buying a lot more of it in the near future.

Got a few packs for free at a trade convention. Seamless, it works. Doesn't seem to bring the stress of coffee or sodas.

Caffeine is not healthy, and is hard on a person's heart and body. But sometimes it's a regrettable necessity. This gum works. I would have given it 4 stars if it wasn't loaded with aspartame and sucralose, both unhealthy sweeteners.

As bitter as this gum tastes, and considering it seems to be targeted at fairly tough individuals, I would have rather they take out all the sweetness and just make it a bitter caffeine gum.

As a grad student putting in some long hours, this gum is a life saver. I wish I didn't have to use caffeine at all but usually I try to just drink tea cause it's more healthy. But when I really need a kick in the butt, this is definitely the ticket. The thing is, I have a really sensitive stomach and usually have a problem with coffee or tea. But not with this gum. I don't get the shakes or stomach pain. I just wake up. And I don't know why people think it's so bitter. Sure, it doesn't taste like candy. But that's the point. You shouldn't be chewing it for the taste. It's to keep you awake when you need to stay alert. And for that it works great.

This stuff is great. It really gives a nice jolt of energy. I drink a lot of energy drinks and have tried a lot of energy gums and candies, so I am pretty immune to caffeine. I only had to chew one piece to get a nice clean wake up.

The taste on the other hand. Its a little strong and you will need something to drink afterward. I like the cinnamon taste alot better, but that might just be my tastes.

Either way, the rewards are worth it.

Maybe I'm a rotten apple but, I didn't get any of the effects the "military" proved to exist. I bought both the cinnamon and arctic flavors JUST in case it might work. I took two pieces of gum every morning for 5 days to test whether or not I felt more awake. I would be 30 minutes into chewing the gum and had no effect.

I read other reviews, they stated the gum had a horrible taste which I didn't find to be THAT bad. If I had a choice I would stick with Arctic Mint though.

I gave my friend 2 packs to see whether or not it had an effect on him, he said it worked well and kept him awake. Like I said, I may be a rotten apple where this gum didn't have an effect on me, but my friend and others agree it does work. I wish there was a 2.5 review, but I'll round up to be nice ;)

Do try it though, it's definitely cheap and it works for most people. Good luck.

As far as how well the product works, it is a wonderful alternative to coffee. In the past, if I stayed up late to study for an exam, I would drink coffee before the exam the following day. About halfway through the exam, my bladder would be bursting though, making it very difficult to concentrate on the rest of the exam. In college, most professors will not let students leave partway through an exam and come back to finish it, so in these cases, I would have to rush through the rest of the exam distractedly. That's where this gum comes into play.

Stats: 5'4" Female, 125 lbs, frequent coffee drinker (4-5 times/wk)
-Effects start to kick in about 10 minutes after I begin chewing it.
-Become very alert mentally once the effects have come on, physically a lot less fatigued also.
-Don't get as much of the jitters and mind-racing I get with coffee.
-A lot less of a crash than with coffee. I tend to only chew this gum if I'm really fatigued and need to be alert for class or an exam, so what happens is not a "crash" but some of the fatigue from sleep deprivation will start to creep back as the effects wear off
-Effects last ~5hrs for me, from onset to full wearing off

With the amount of caffeine in the product, it's impossible to mask the bitter taste. I found the taste very unpleasant before, but you get used to it after some time. It helps to chew a normal piece of gum with the Stay Alert if you find the taste really intolerable, but after I got through my first pack, I no longer found the need to do so.
