This review is from: STC HT2001 Medium Heater (Lawn & Patio)
Had this now for 4 years. Works great with no problems. Great in the garage. It's hard wire with a thermostat.I trust Dayton brand over many other brand. If their is any problem the parts are easy to find in the US and any state.

This is an excellent heater. I have it heating my 24x30 TOTALLY un-insulated shop. Don't let the small size fool you. This thing is like a turbine of hot air blasting out. I live in Central Oregon and we can have some chilly 20dg to 30dgs days and this is keeping my uninsulated shop heated till I can insulate it. Mounting is quite straight forward. Drill a hole in a beam or rafter and hang it. Give your electrical wire some slack so you can rotate the heater slightly. The Bar allows you to angle it up or down via some notched stops. They really thought this design through.READ THIS IF YOUR HEATER IS NOT GETTING HOT (or HOT ENOUGH) OR PUSHING LITTLE AIR!!!! (IF YOU DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE AROUND ELECTRICITY (WHICH IS DANGEROUS!) HIRE AN ELECTRICIAN) When I first hooked up the heater it was barely putting out heat, the fan was slow and it wasn't even as powerful as a space heater. Heck, a hair dryer would have put out more heat. If you have this problem keep reading! After a lot of discovery I figured out from amazon posts that I had wired it wrong and it was only operating on 1/2 voltage/amperage. This unit only runs on 3 wires! Black and White are HOT in the unit (and in your circuit panel) and your ground(green) goes to a small green screw behind the power block inside the heater. In your circuit breaker panel the Black and White go onto the two HOT leads of your 30AMP Double pole breaker and your ground(green) wire goes to the ground terminal block. That's it. There should be no other wires hooked up. If you have a red wire (or any other color) it should be taped off on both ends with a wire nut and electrical tape over it. Again this unit only has 3 wires hooked up Black, White and Ground. When you have it wired correctly this unit will blast out heat at an amazing rate. If you have it wired correctly and it's still not hot check the jumpers (with all power off) to make sure they are placed correctly according to schematic (or have someone knowledgeable/electrician check for you). |
