Product Description

Backyard Style & Function

Enjoy candlelight dinners or take a break from the summer sun in the handsome STC Madrid gazebo. This unit adds cover to any backyard setting while providing style, function and comfort for years to come. The Madrid's posts are aluminum while the upper canopy support is steel and both are powder-coated to resist corrosion and rust. The roof is made of all-weather 4 mil twin-wall opaque polycarbonate. Aluminum posts and steel top frame are powder-coated brown for durability. Requires two people for assembly which can be completed in under 3 hours.

Year-Round Use

Stylish durability is the name the game with the Madrid Gazebo. With the strength to withstand sun, rain and wind, this long-lasting square gazebo was designed to be used year-round. You get a comfortable patio area in summer and a luxurious spa protection in winter.

Durable Construction

The Madrid features a heavy gauge extruded aluminum frame that has been powder-coated in a mocha brown color. The darkly tinted 4-mil twin-wall opaque polycarbonate roof offers sun filtration with the same materials used in quality greenhouses. Complete with corrosion-free materials, patented connectors, ground stakes, and all necessary hardware, you'll have this striking gazebo assembled in no time. Engineered and designed in the U.S.A.

Purchased this from [...]. It was shipped quickly. Note that the gazebodepot doesn't ship them, it comes from the manufacturer. The box was not damaged at all, yet three of the posts were damaged. But, a call to the manufacturer and I had the replacement parts in hand within 2 business days. Assembly was easy. The instructions suggest 3 people may be needed at times and that it takes 2-3 hours to do. I did it with an occasional hand from my wife or neighbor ... about 8 hours. So plan accordingly. The instructions were very clear and complete. They even include a couple of tools to help you with assembly and extra hardware in case a screw or two falls and gets lost. Note that the tools they include are ok, but you're better off using a power screw driver or drill and a regular socket set. Much more efficient. The instructions suggest filling the main posts with pea gravel. This not only makes the structure less susceptible to winds, it gives it a very solid feel ... tap on the posts and it sounds like concrete, not like aluminum. Overall I would recommend this to any buyer that is handy with a screw driver, ratchet, and allen wrench. It really looks great on my deck. Be sure to screw it down to a deck or a patio. I would be reluctant to just stake it to bare ground with the included stakes?

Some background first.

I think this is the 5th gazebo I've installed on my deck. For years, I kept asking, "Why can't someone build a quality gazebo and charge more?" I was buying the typical $400 versions from box stores. All junk. Max of 2 years on the canvas top. So, I thought this was the answer. It is, almost. I just put it up yesterday so, my thoughts are fresh.

Pros:

- Reasonably well built. About equivalent to my initial unit costing $500 about 12yrs ago.
- Instructions are clear.
- A few extra screws of each type are included.
- It looks like the materials and coatings will last. Probably not the length of the warranty but, longer than box store versions.

Cons:

- Color. It's essentially gun metal gray. I even asked that question on Amazon and was told is was the dark brown that outdoor furniture is typically made of and like shown in most of the pictures. It's gray. No way to soften that. Look at the pics on the product page and in one, you will see a gray post with brown roof structure attached. My entire unit is the gray color of the post. Amazing the color is a mystery until you open the box.
- The plastic film protecting the roof panels is assembled under the frame pieces so, it's very difficult to remove cleanly.
- Permanent stickers. Yes, there are 2 semi-permanent (do not come off clean) on the top of each roof panel. At what point do companies figure out such an incredibly simple issue?
- The mounting holes on each leg have no combination that match 16" centers used on wooden deck construction. It talks about mounting it to a wood deck in the instructions and yet, make no provisions to attach all 4 legs to the structural part of the deck.

I was looking for a replacement gazebo with a hard top. Found this on ebay for less than half of what it is being sold here. Limited quantities so good luck. I usually compare prices between ebay and amazon. Usually they are not that far off and I go with Amazon due to the customer service, but in this case, I opted to take my chances for the lower cost. I received it and assembled it all by my self, but took about 4 hours. Good quality. I'm planning on anchoring in to the concrete because I don't think it will be heavy enough to stay put during a +30 mile gust of wind... not taking my chances on it blowing away... roof material is good.. hoping it withstands the NJ winters...

This is by far the most well made "some assembly required" item I have ever purchased - of ANY kind. Furniture, gazebos, lawnmowers, wagons, etc. And let's be clear, there is a hell of a lot of assembly. It took us (2 skilled DIY guys) all day, but the finished product is beautiful. We followed the instructions, we first counted and inventoried every nut, bolt, and piece, we read ahead to know where we were going next, and we took our time. This thing went together like a jigsaw puzzle. EVERY screwhole lined up perfectly, every panel slid right into place, and every step in the instructions made perfect sense.

This just increased the value of my home/back yard by I don't even know how much. It visually and functionally made improvement of a beautiful large deck that had been unsuitable in any type of sunny weather due to excessive heat. I put it together all by myself - which the manufacturer doesn't recommend, which made it a bit more difficult for me. Need for improvement: I do wish some of the screws/bolts had been added as extras - especially when I was losing more than a few down the cracks in my deck and then had to spend hours at Home Depot trying to find a 12 something or other screw and bolt which they didn't carry. Had to improvise. So extra fasteners would have saved me a lot of headache. But it is gorgeous! I will have to add a picture at some point in time.

10.4.14 - It has been through a winter in Utah now, and through some really bad windstorms, that threw the cover off my treadmill right next to it - without any creaking or damage to this gazebo. No leaks or problems - adds so much to my 25x25 deck, in terms of usability and visual - I love this gazebo!
