I purchased this to use with an old TiVo Series 2 with a Motorola (Comcast) digital cable box and it works great. Inexpensive replacement option and easily mountable.

I bought a couple of these to replace the ones provided with my Tivo units. They are lower profile, easier to hide and have so far emitted the proper commands. Nothing will aggravate you more than sitting down to watch a NASCAR race and you get some crappy shopping network selling crappy widgets!

I lost the IR emitter from my old HP media center PC, and replaced it with this. Works like a charm.

This product is just what you expect, but as an FYI, it's not the right size to work with a Slingbox. This is not the product's fault, it's that my original Slingbox uses a non-standard connector size. Wil work great with a Tivo or other devices that use a standard IR emitter like this one.

I'm glad to have ordered this thing. It does what's supposed to. Easy to use and does the job as expected. Kind of a bit more (the cost) of what I wanted to spend, but a quick search on the internet had the price to be about what's posted here.
* Additional comment: I just reviewed the bill that I got when I ordered this, and the price is really good. It was the shipping and handling cost from the seller that was kind of "high" for such a small item. *

these are new boxes with IR input and this doesnt work. Another brand works, which leads me to believe this is a low quality IR transmitter. You get what you pay for...

My sony location free IR emitter stopped working. This was the perfect replacement, small, extra long wire and does the job. Great product for the price. Buy this if you need an IR emitter!

As already stated, this works fine as a replacement for the TiVo IR cable.

4 days ago I didn't even know what an IR cable was until I started trying to add a Time Warner digital cable box to my TiVo setup. When the TiVo setup program demanded that I plug in an IR cable so it could change channels on the cable box, I was surprised as hell. I'm sure I threw my original cable away 5 years ago, not even knowing what it was. Even more surprisingly, brick & mortar electornics stores like Best Buy (who even sells TiVos) don't carry replacement cables.

So I consulted the Googles, read about IR emitters, and found this one which I ordered with express delivery. 2 business days later my TiVo and cable box are playing well together.

Basically this cable plugs into your TiVo "IR Out" jack, and you tape the other end on the front glass of the cable box where it normally picks up signals from your remote control. The TiVo setup program will run through a whole gamut of tests to make sure it can change channels on the cable box through this cable, and whammo, you can start using the TiVo remote to control everything. There IS a slight delay between pressing the TiVo remote buttons, and the cable box channel actually changing.. maybe 3-4 seconds. But that's the price you pay for using TiVo with a cable box.

I lost my TiVo IR Emitter during a move and had to find a replacement. This Smarthome product was cheap and came with good reviews, so I purchased it. I currently use it with my Series 2 TiVo box, and haven't had any problems with it after I got it hooked up. I had trouble finding the perfect position for the emitter right away, and the adhesive hasn't stuck very well.
I would recommend this product for a replacement cord, rather than pay more through TiVo. If I wouldn't have had problems with the adhesive and finding the "perfect" position, I would rate this product with 5 stars.

I bought this to replace my aging (and unsightly) TiVo-supplied IR blasters. I simply plugged it in and stuck it to the front panel of my cable box. No worries whatsover. With a single cord, it feeds underneath the cable box and is therefore almost completely out of sight. The business end is so small that I can't see it unless I look closely. I'd recommend them to everyone with a TiVo series 2 and a cable box.
