After the other reviews I was nervous about trying this book. Since I have the newest Kindle (WiFi version) I decided I would take a chance. The Chinese characters are ok with the newest version of the Kindle. However, the material is handled as a table and sometimes the spacing is not correct and the pinyin is blocked by the next item in the table. You can guess at what is blocked usually. I think the publishers should do a new version of the book and give free updates to all those who purchased this fairly poor version. Let me say I like the concept as it is good to have mnemonics to help you remember the characters as Chinese is a difficult language. Also let me say that using this book is a little painful as the entries are in a table format and the complete row does not fit across the screen. You need to click down on the 5-way button to enter the table and then you can click the left or right button to scroll across the table. Also you will get the best image of the page if you use the smallest font possible. The smallest font is quite easy to read. If you are willing to put up with these idiosyncrasies, you will probably find the book useful. Also the Kindle is very useful when you are moving around China. Apartments are small and you don't have the space and can't stand the weight of real books. The Kindle is very good for here.

I'm teaching Mandarin as a foreign language and can highly recommend this book! This is one of the first books whose Chinese characters can be displayed with Kindle 3 and for all other versions on Kindle PC and on phones. And finally it is one of the first books of this kind that offers more than 800 characters. It's appropriate from beginners' level on until advanced levels.
The didactical approach makes remembering Chinese characters far easier! It should be part of every Mandarin book.
AND (!) in addition, with its bilingual edition, both, English and Spanish speakers can follow in their mother tongue. As both languages are clearly separated by different colors, it is easy to follow one language. That's a big plus.
Spanish instruction material for Chinese is generally overpriced. This here is a really great deal.

Waste of money. This software doesn't work on my iPad. I will see what I can do to get my money back. Good way to learn Chinese characters, so it gets one star for the idea. I can either see the characters or see the definition; not both at once. Also, tapping on the parts I want to see SELDOM works. Buy if you enjoy wasting money and being frustrated. PS: I got a refund on this digital book, and it was EASY and fast.
