For photos, these are fine. For video, I recommend the OEM Canon battery. The price is higher, but not losing 10 minutes of irreplaceable video is worth it.
The main point of my review is that video has necessarily different power requirements than photography. Video is not hundreds of photos per day, video is thousands of photos per minute. I purchased extra batteries because I expected to shoot video for multiple days on end. I currently run three OEM batteries, 1-2 per day plus backup.
Maybe I would have been better to say, "these just aren't good batteries", but I wanted to specifically call out the technical problem with shooting video because 10+ minutes of lost video and audio is often (not always) harder to replace than a single photographic frame. It isn't a matter of just pushing a button again, as is often the case with digital photography. Though I do recognize the moment can be fleeting there as well, a dead OEM versus third party battery in that case would provide similar results; you probably didn't get the shot. With video, a dying OEM battery will save your shot. That's an important distinction.Read more ›
Needless to say the camera ultimately died and I had to switch to another camera
So I went ahead and ordered these "high capacity" 2000mAh batteries and so far they seem to be the real deal
