I've enjoyed the bag, and it is very functional. It has plenty of storage space for smaller items, however, any 8x10 paper must be folded to fit. The bag is sturdy and comfortable on the shoulder. One other point, if your iPad is in a case it will not fit in the bag.
If you want a light compact and extremely well constructed bag, specifically designed for the iPad, then look no further. It has a very well padded interior that gives every confidence of protecting the iPad, this can be sealed with a dual zipper design from either side. The front facing side has a flap held in place by a small patch of Velcro. Under this flap can be found an ID or Business card window (I use it to hold a micro fiber glass cleaning cloth), several sewn pen and pencil slots and a webbed elastic topped pocket that works well at holding a pair of ear buds. All of these are nestled within a larger pleated outer pocket. It is large enough to hold a paper back novel. There is also a keyring with a typical quick release plastic clip. On the back is another pocket, this is a snug non expanding pouch. In my case it is usually the temporary home to printed documents folded in half and slipped in. The documents come to just below the top lip of the pocket. At the top of the bag on the front and back are two other small pockets, designed to allow the handles to be tucked inside. In my case they work well at holding my iPhone, releaving my belt of the ever present holster. The shoulder strap is wide and comfortable, with swivel joints to prevent twisting, as well as adjustable and removable. Personal usage; I am a Network Administrator for multiple small businesses. I travel and work in a wide range of environments, the bag rarely leaves my shoulder and I have yet to find it an inconvenience. I have learned to slip it off before diving under a desk to check cable connections, the whole diving part tends to get the bag swinging... ;). On a side note, this review was typed on the iPad...
I got an iPad on day one, but finding a suitable bag for it finally led me to this STM Micro Bag. While originally designed for 10" netbooks, it fits the iPad just fine. The workmanship is good. The stitching looks fine, and the bag feels like it will last a long time with its well-designed pockets and hardware components. The shoulder strap has a royal shoulder pad and can be adjusted easily. I prefer to keep the shoulder strap short, so that the bag fits snugly under my arm and against my waist. When I enter my car I pull the shoulder strap over my head to my other shoulder so that the bag sits on my chest and I have easy access to its compartments. The iPad itself slides into the center pocket, which is lined with soft fabric. A zipper on the top keeps it there. The top also has two short handles, so if you prefer to carry the bag in hand you can remove the shoulder strap. A nice detail is the inclusion of two shallow pockets on each side near the top for your (i)phone(s). A large flap with velcro closure covers the front of the bag, behind which there is a large pocket with room for a pocket camera, wallet, charging cable, and perhaps a book (but why would you carry one when the free Kindle app for iPad can hold hundreds of books?). A small mesh pocket, key ring strap, and pen holders round out this versatile and small bag, which has instantly become my companion now that I no longer carry my Macbook everywhere. Its presence has also resulted in my pockets having been emptied of wallet, keys, point and shoot camera, and iPhone. All in all, a great product at a great price. I paid $35 for one shipped free via SuperSaver by Amazon, but I no longer see it here at that lower price...
This bag is amazing! Except for the card holder under the front flap. I lost $200 in gift cards, they fell out of the card holder because they slid out (you insert the cards from the side, so when slung over the shoulder they shoot out the side). I am pretty bummed I lost all that money, but I just learned not to use the card holder. If they redesigned this bag, the card holder should be changed to insert the cards from the top.
I was impressed with the shipping and the product. It's the smallest one I've seen so far that you can still put a tablet and a few other items in it without it looking like a purse. Guys can use this without feeling weird. I've even worn it while on a motorcycle in light rain with no problems. Not sure how waterproof it is but a light drizzle didn't seem to hurt it. I would recommend this to others
I love my iPad (I have the original iPad), and I love my STM carrier. I spent more than I wanted to, but I had seen a video review of this bag on You Tube and I was sure this was the one for me. I wasn't disappointed when it arrived. The bag is pretty small, has a dark charcoal color, the fabric pattern has a subtle checkered look, very professional and good looking. It has a secure fit for the iPad, even when I have it in a thick folio case (yes, it is a bit tight, but it works). You can use it as a shoulder bag with provided strap, or use the two handles and carry it in your hand. The handles tuck away out of sight if you don't need them. The strap has 360-degree rotation at both connections to the bag so you never get it tangles, it easily removes and re-installs using a design I've never seen before. The bag is padded sufficiently for protection, and the corners, sides, and front & back are reinforced with a stiff material to add further protection. The bag is very light weight. It includes two pockets. The front pocket is fairly deep for storing iPad accessories (charging cable, stylus, even the dock will fit (although it's pretty tight). You can also attach keys to a removable key fob, and put an ID card in a little holder. The back pocket can be used for boarding passes or folded pages - I can get a thick paperback book in there as well. The construction is flawless, good design, good stitching, this is simply a fantastic and well made case. I like that it has the vertical design, looks better than the normal gym-bag type design. I can't say enough about this bag, I'm very pleased, and recommend it without reservation.
My iPad in the Apple iPad case fits perfectly in the soft lined zippered pocket. I can also put my charger and iPad camera kit dongles in the front pocket and still have room for more stuff. Metropixie's review says it all.
I wanted a small bag/case that I could use while in the airport and on an airplane, andI needed a bag that could carry an iPad, headphones, and a magazine when I board the airplane so I don't need to lug around my backpack while cramped back in coach seating. Now I can store my backpack in the overhead, and I have everything in this cool little bag from STM - It is perfect for my needs! I looked at some other cases/bags for the iPad, and even bought one from case logic that just didn't have the style and functionality that the STM bag had. I just wasn't able to find one that quite compared. For the price and what this bag offers, you just can't go wrong, it's a great value and fits an ipad perfectly - I am sure you will be very satisfied with this product.
I have been very pleased with this purchase for my iPad2. Having read that it isn't big enough for a keyboard, I did wonder if I had done the right thing. However, I have an Apple bluetooth keyboard that fits right in the main padded pocket along with my iPad in its smart case. There is also space for the charger and the camera adapter in the outside pocket, along with other odds and ends. The shoulder strap is very securely attached - removeable, but only with much effort - and the handles are comfortable and convenient. All in all, a great purchase, and the fast delivery time was helpful as I had originally ordered the next size up from Apple, but it was too large.
I expected the extra pockets to be more useful. The back slot is only good for writing pad or stashing paper. The front pocket prone to bulging even with nothing but charger which is about all you can get in it beside pen, pencil or stylist. Your tablet will be well protected as the pocket padding is about 20mm thick total. Very sturdy and should last.
