Sylvia Hubbard's Stone's Revenge makes getting back at an arch enemy more than an empty confectionary treat but a filling four course meal plus desert and an after dinner drink!

William Yared Castro-Chavez Stone is an orphaned outcast due to his grandfather and father's sick, sadistic serial killing rampages. To make matters worse, Enid, his uncle's stepdaughter, accuses him of rape and William is thrown out of the only home he has. While roaming the streets after school, he saw the most beautifully, captivating girl, Abigail McPherson, who is being tormented by her older brother and sister. Fortunately for her, the object they teased her with rolled across the street and ended up in his hands. Before he returned the ball he made Abigail make him a promise to never forget him. She complies. Several days later, fate dealt him another crappy hand: right before his eyes an injured motorist plows down Abigail and both of her siblings. Knowing Abigail's father, Ramsey, has a personal vendetta against his entire family, William leaves Abigail stuck under the car and fleas the scene and the city knowing with Abigail gone he has no reason to stay.

Several years later, Stone returns to Davenport for his mother's funeral and copycat murders, similar to the ones his father committed, begin almost as quickly as he arrives. Ramsey McPherson, certain that Stone has inherited "bad genes", sets out to prove that he is the one committing the crimes. While arguing with Ramsey, he learns that Abigail is alive and almost well, the accident caused paralysis and memory loss. With that information, he decides that the best way to get back at Ramsey is through the one thing he holds dear, his beloved daughter.

Sylvia's book is dramatically entertaining while touching on the powerful conflict of love and family. Who did it? is obvious around the middle of the novel but the mystery falls back seat to this passion filled love story. William Yared Castro-Chavez Stone is the most memorable character I have ever read. He's been in my dreams a few times ... DON'T TELL MY HUSBAND!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE MOST THRILLING RIDE I'VE TAKEN!, July 14, 2004
By
Brenda M. Hampton "Author" (St. Louis, MO United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stone's Revenge (Paperback)
Sylvia Hubbard's Stone's Revenge is an exhilarating and suspenseful ride for readers. The main character, William Stone, takes you on a journey that explores his tramatic upbringing and the consequences he has to suffer for being the son of a seriel killer, Javier Chavez.

Unable to escape the Yared Castro-Chavez family's legacy of being crazed people, William finds himself constantly being harassed by the city's prosecuting attorney, Ramsey McPherson. McPherson was responsible for putting William's father away in prison, and now, desires to make sure the same thing happens to William as a string of murders start to arise in Davenport again. No other men in the world could hate each other as much as William and Ramsey and both find themselves scuffling hard for revenge. SERIOUS REVENGE, that is, until William falls in love with Ramsey's daughter, Abigail. He's loved her since she was a kid, and eventually comes face to face with the most critical decision he'll ever have to make: to embrace his love for Abigail, or continue his revenge for her father. At any cost, Abigail is determined to prove William's innocense, but how can she trust the man who so many believe is guilty? She's torn between the man who gave birth to her, versus the man that she's loved at first sight. Her choice could very well be the end of it all, as Stone's Revenge will have you biting your nails up until the very end.

I immensly enjoyed Hubbard's heart throbbing novel and from one writer to the next, I was delighted to see her attempt another genre and succeed well at doing so. Moreso, she stepped out of the box and created a novel that I'm certain many will enjoy. A must read, as Stone's Revenge will go down in my history book as being one of the best novels ever written.

Brenda M. Hampton,
Miss Author On The Rise

4.0 out of 5 stars Oh what a tangled web Stone's Revenge weaves, November 13, 2004
This review is from: Stone's Revenge (Paperback)
Not normally being a suspense reader I read Sylvia's book over two nights. Stone's Revenge is a psychological suspense wrapped around a love story. One man, one woman joined together by a mother's deceit. The woman becomes the victim as the man stands accused. With more than one twist to this plot of suspense, you will continue reading, if only to find out who done it and if love can conquer all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read!, January 12, 2008

The Ups and Downs of Being Round

Taste My Soul

I was so engaged in this book that when my boyfriend told me that one of the main characters that I had fallen in love with died at the end, I started crying! I was not crying because I was sad about the character dying, I was angry that he had given away the end of a book that I was having so much fun reading! Needless to say, he was just joking, but any book that can evoke that much emotion in me MUST be good. Stone's Revenge is one of those books that you never want to end. I hope that Sylvia finds the time to write the sequel to this.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Worst Kind of Revenge, January 12, 2005
This review is from: Stone's Revenge (Paperback)
In Stone's Revenge, Author Sylvia Hubbard takes us on an exhilarating and suspenseful ride. The main character, Yared Castro-Chavez a.k.a. William Stone, takes you on his personal journey that includes a traumatic upbringing and the consequences he suffers at the hands of others because of his father, a psychopathic serial killer.

Fighting desperately to escape the Castro-Chavez family's legacy of being crazed people, William finds himself constantly being harassed by his nemesis, the city's prosecuting attorney, Ramsey McPherson who was responsible for putting William's father in prison. Now the only thing that McPherson can focus on is doing the same thing happens to William when a string of murders happen again in Davenport. McPherson is adamant that William is responsible for them and will stop at nothing to prove his guilt. There is no love lost between the two men. William seeks his revenge on Ramsey through his daughter, Abigail. A childhood encounter sparks the flame that will eventually leave William with having to make the most critical decision he'll ever have to make, embrace his love for Abigail or continue his revenge against her father. At any cost, Abigail is determined to prove William's innocence. Torn between the man who gave life to her and the man she loves, could her choice be the end of them all? Stone's Revenge will have your interest piqued until the very last page.

Stone's Revenge was a very exhilarating, thrilling and suspenseful read. The combination of suspense mixed with a twinge of romance, Stone's Revenge is a must read for all suspense and mystery lovers. I definitely rank it in the top 5 of my list as one of the best books of 2004.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stone's Revenge - Great Read, July 13, 2004
This review is from: Stone's Revenge (Paperback)
Stones Revenge is a romantic suspense thriller novel that tells the story of a young man (William Stone) who is unfortunately stained by his father's cruel murders and a prosecuting attorney (Ramsey McPherson) who is out for Stone's head and is totally convinced that Stone is exactly like his father despite contradicting evidence. Stone seeks revenge and ultimately passionate freedom when he falls for his nemesis' daughter (Abigail McPherson).
The characters are fully developed and the story believable. The only problem I have with the story is that I find it very hard to believe that a person who has been violently raped can fall in love and marry their rapist. Other that that, Hubbard's tale will put you in a page turning frenzy and give you the desire to want to know more about the characters when the book is over. It is a great read.

Sylvia has done it again. From the 1st page to the very last I was hooked. I could not put this story down. It has enough sex, murder, and twists to have your heart beating all over the place. Sylvia has become my new favorite author. This is one of many I have read by her and she has not disappointed me yet! Keep em coming Sylvia!

This review is from: STONE'S REVENGE (Paperback)
This book kept me up all night. REAL TALK. At some points I was caught up in the suspense of the killer then at other times I was caught up in Abagail and William. Then, to make matters worse her father was just a complete Well I guess he was just a guy that loved his daughter. This story had a lot of twists and kept you guessing. It also had me rooting. Rooting for William to get his revenge. Which he did at the end. This is definitely a PAGE TURNER and very very good read.
