Simply the Best,
By MimmyDan "MimmyDan" (Idaho) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stormy Weekend (Audio CD)
When I got home from a two year stint in Italy in 1973 a close friend introduced me to Mystic Moods Orchestra. We were both young men full of romantic notions about young women. These recordings siezed our young minds and stirred our hearts.
My all-time favorite recording by this group is Stormy Weekend. The sound effects of ocean, rain, trains, and traffic are insinuated into the recording in a most delightful and believable way. The selections are the best collection of romantic melodies ever recorded by MMO, with the best arrangements of some of these tunes you will ever hear. The Sandpipers' old tune, Come Saturday Morning, always a sweet little thing, becomes a lavish and luch romantic dream in this recording. Lovers' Lullaby, a piece I've never seen in any other recording, is another piece designed to carry you away to a much sweeter place. Even Paul Mauriat's old standard, Love is Blue, gets a rain-fresh treatment here. If I were forced to choose my favorite CD of all time, I cannot think of a better candidate than Stormy Weekend by the Mystic Moods Orchestra.

A Mystic Moods Classic,
By
This review is from: Stormy Weekend (Audio CD)
I've owned several recordings over the years by the MMO and this one is my favorite, hands down. As a young Airman stationed overseas in 1982 these recordings were something of a revelation as I'd never heard sound effects and music blending together in seamless perfection to produce something so beautiful. There's something haunting about this music that stays with you so that you find yourself whistling it's tunes throughout the day.
The sound effects, which include train whistles, thunder, and rain, plus the terrific orchestration and wonderful playing make this an MMO classic.

Stormy Weekend (Los Angeles),
By
This review is from: STORMY WEEKEND (Audio CD)
I am updating my LP's to CD's and have to have this series by the Mystic Moods Orchestra.
They take movie themes, love songs, and popular melodies, play them in a full orchestra setting and dub in parts of a freak four hour thunderstorm over Los Angeles. Brad Miller included various sounds of trains to enhance the audio experience. Fine music, great effects with a real "Man and a Woman" quality. There are 17 albums listed, but the best are: One Stormy Night Night Tide More Than Music Mystic Moods of Love Emotions Stormy Weekend Highway One The Storm and The Sea
