This intermediate program simulates basic moves often performed on a Reformer. Challenge your balance, activate your abs, stretch your spine - and have a ball doing it. Focusing on quality movements, this workout will challenge your balance, activate your abs and stretch your spine. Required Equipment: Exercise mat, Stability Ball (55 cm OR 65cm)
I would say that this dvd is among my favorites. I love working out with the stability ball (and props in general) and I think that the instructors are very good. Moira has a great personality. Some of the other dvds I find way too easy, and this one has some really good and challenging moves. My complaint with most Stott dvds is that they are way too short and that there are not enough repetitions. I usually do two dvds in a row. The ball nicely challenges your core and balance and many exercises remind me of exercises that I have done on the reformer. So if you like the reformer and want something similar to do at home for a fraction of the price, this is great. I actually find the exercises more difficult on the ball than on the reformer because the ball is unstable, whereas the reformer supports you more and thus challenges you less.

Ordinarily, I'm impressed by the amount of guidance and instruction offered by Stott Pilates DVDs, but by the time Moira and PJ really got going with this workout, I was sick of hearing them talk. The movements were extremely effective, and that's why I gave this DVD 3 stars. The workout was great on glutes, hamstrings and there were a few good balance exercises. But with only 33 minutes of actual exercises, it was just not enough of a workout for me. It would've been better had they extended the time on the workout. I was shocked when they started saying thank you for a great workout to each other because I was JUST warming up to do some real exercises! Some of this is a good intermediate workout, but it isn't enough for me to keep the DVD. I'd hate to go through all that chatter again, waiting for the workout to start. I had to do another workout to feel like I got a workout this morning.
