Book Description

Oceans Delano and Marshall Cohen could not be any different. She is a shy Jamaican born woman returning to the states after her father's death. Marshall Cohen is a privileged young business man traveling out of the country to engage in 'sketchy' business dealings for his boss. When their small plane crashes, the two lone survivors are forced to depend on each other and in the process they learn to face their fears and to accept their differences. Oceans and Marshall embark on a journey of courage, love, passion and sometimes hate. This multicultural romance is intended for mature audiences due to graphic descriptions and frank language.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! January 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Stranded was a very good read. I was drawn into the plight of Oceans Delano and Marshall Cohen. We watch the relationship between Oceans and Marshall grow from strangers on the plane to partners trying to survive on a remote tropical island. They endure the possibility of never being rescued, of dying of tropical disease and/or being killed by angry boars. They go through the trials of developing a relationship and the growing pains of falling in and briefly out of love. Refreshingly, they don't hop into bed in the first chapter of the book, we have to wait for it. And it is so delicious when they do come together. The story telling is vivid, the characters are human and well developed. You wish the tale would simply go on and on. This is my first story by Ms. Pace, I am looking forward to many more. I am definitely a new fan!

**updated my review** after I read the story again, I was moved by how wonderful the story truly is. What was I thinking?!! Definitely 5 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting March 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book reminded me of the movie Six Days, Seven Nights. The refreshing part of this story is the author's writing wasn't complicated and is straightforward. What bogged it down was two people stranded on an island didn't leave a whole lot of interactive plots. These two managed to work the island and make a tiny utopia for themselves without tools. Oceans was an island girl so her skill with knowing what to look for as far as food was plausible but Marshall's role building pots, weapons and shelter was way out there along with his patience at fire building and childbirthing. The guy worked as an accountant before being dumped on the island. It seemed as if Oceans was always cooking or weaving a basket or making pottery while Marshall was forever building something, catching crabs with items Oceans created or mooning over doing the right thing as far as his relationship with Oceans went. Despite the plot, the grammar and spelling errors, this book had charm and innocence in the writer's skill at storytelling. That is well done and based on that is why I gave this book three stars.

2.0 out of 5 stars MacGyver's little sister..2.5 stars June 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Stranded did and didn't work for me. The idea behind the story was good. Black woman White man are stranded on a deserted Island, they are forced to work together to survive. I just kept thinking of all the steamy and scary scenarios they could get into as I started this book, only to be slightly disappointed when I discovered the book was written in 1st person narrative with a change up in the POV between the H/h.... ok no biggie I got over it. I still thought this was a good story until the book started to read like entries in a personal diary.

I was looking for a fluid story that allowed the reader to experience the building of a romantic relationship that was forged during an extremely difficult and harrowing time for Ocean and Marshall. I never felt the sexual attraction between the two, or the build up of sexual tension. One moment they are going about their daily task on the island when out of the blue Marshall starts to masturbate while watching Ocean. It felt like he was horny and any woman would've served his purpose to get off. Missing were the scenes of when he starts to see her as more than the person he is stranded with, or the scenes that made them realize they were in love with one another. I got the feeling Marshall felt a lot of gratitude toward Ocean because of her MacGyver' skills in creating something out of nothing, she made soap, medicine, dishes, floor mats and lobster cages. and she could turn out perfect meals cooked over an open flame. This chick was amazing, she was not your typical damsel in distress, but I liked her, so what made her fall in love with Marshall? Again it felt more like gratitude instead of love, he made hammocks and a hut the size of a garage, built fires and made weapons, he was no slouch.

I am a fan of Pepper Pace, I loved this couple in this story. I rooted for them and found myself with tears in my eyes quite a few times. I love when a writer tells a story so well, that I begin to view the story as movie in my head. That is what Pepper Pace as accomplished with me, you are a true artist. I love that Oceans was a tall sister, thanks for representing!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Ehh idk January 18, 2013

Okay so this is my FIRST review ever! Idk why i chose this book but here goes nothing...

To begin i LOVEEEEE Pepper Pace and her scenarios. My favorites: BEAST & WOS...followed by Baby Girl and The mean Boss & Juicy...then They Say Love is Blind & the chinese book...last but not least STRANDED [in that order]

^^^Trying to be helpful^^^

But yeah this book...I felt the beginning moved too fast [them not panicking enough...falling in love...making "lean-to's" had to google what that was btw ] and then it moved too slow...[whens the good stuff gonna happen?] At the end of the day im a sucker for love...or just a sappy love story & i thought it was kind of cute.

I'll continue looking out for more of this down to earth authors work.

Can people comment under my review? Lol dont laugh!!!!!

I am a big fan of Pepper Pace and I regret to say that i did not enjoy this book. I could not get the chemistry between Oceans Delano and Marshall Cohen. The story centered around them being on the Island for too long, so there was not enough spontaneity to make it interesting. I found myselt skipping ahead but just could not get the gist of the story.

2.0 out of 5 stars I did not like this story
Whereas I am a fan of Pepper Pace's work, I did not like this story. It was too Blue Lagoonish and I did not like the end of the novel.
