5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Assemble, Sturdy, Adjustable Bed Frame, June 3, 2010
This review is from: STRUCTURES by Malouf Heavy Duty 6-Leg LINENSPA Adjustable Metal Bed Frame with Rug Rollers - (Full, Twin)
It was nice to find a bed frame like this available online with free shipping because it was so much more convenient to order than to go pick up from the store myself. It shipped quickly and arrived in great condition.

The assembly went very fast because of the easy to understand instructions. The bed frame is sturdy and strong. The frame was good purchase since the size can be adjusted to fit larger mattresses.

I never realized how convenient the rollers on the bottom would be. My wife says it is really easy to make my son's bed because she can roll the bed a little bit away from the wall to tuck in the sheet and quilt. And when toys get dropped behind his bed, it is easy to get to them.

I would definitely buy from this seller again and am very happy with my purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Haven't had any problems with it., June 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: STRUCTURES by Malouf Heavy Duty 6-Leg LINENSPA Adjustable Metal Bed Frame with Rug Rollers - (Full, Twin)
Like others, I read the other reviews before buying this. I was skeptical because of all the negative reviews, but I decided to give it a try. I've been sleeping on it for about a month, and I haven't had any problems with it so far. But to be fair, that might also be because I read the other reviews, so I've been careful not to shake this thing too hard, or jump into it, or anything like that. Even though it's made out of metal, it is definitely a LOT less "heavy duty" than one would expect. In fact, it isn't even "heavy duty" at all. So if other reviewers are saying it breaks easily, I'd definitely say be careful on it. Still, I've rocked back and forth on it, I've tossed and turned on it, and I've gotten up and laid back quickly enough to shake it. And I haven't had any problems.

One reviewer complained that the frame is too big. Actually, I researched the size a twin bed is supposed to be before I bought this so I could make sure my mattress was the right size. This bed isn't too big. It follows the standard size that twin beds are supposed to be. The problem is that most bed manufacturers make their beds a little smaller than they're supposed to be to save money. Thus, this bed is a little bigger than what most people think of as being "twin." But that's not a bad thing in my book. It doesn't take much more space than a normal twin bed, and when you're lying down, it is nice to have that extra space. It also gives you room to add cushions, and for the first time, my cats and I can sleep on the bed together without getting in each other's way. As for the mattress falling through because the frame is too big, well that would have happened anyway, since there's no horizontal bar to support the mattress.

And that brings me to my next point. You definitely have to find something to support your mattress. This bed is basically just a metal rectangle with legs. In my case, I used plywood boards, and they do the job well. That might be another reason why I haven't had any problems with this. I didn't just put a couple of boards like most people do, I actually took measurements and custom ordered boards the right size from a lumber mill, so that the entire mattress is supported. It only cost me about $25 plus another $25 for delivery. I'm not a "handy" type of person at all, but I managed to get all this done with just a tape measure, the calculator in my cell phone, and the Yellow Pages.

Another thing to note is that as another reviewer pointed out, there are only two sizes on this frame: Twin and Full. When I bought this, I thought it would be adjustable to Twin, Full, and any size in between. That isn't the case. But that isn't a big deal, because this is reasonably priced, and it's easy to put together. I literally didn't have to use a single tool. Everything snaps together, and you can set it up in just a few minutes.

One negative feature is that this frame is unusually low. That isn't really a big deal, but if you plan to use a bed skirt like I did, you will have problems finding one that's the appropriate length. The drop is only about 8 inches. I ended up having to use safety pins to get the bed skirt to be the appropriate length. THAT took me about an hour to do it right, and it was very frustrating.

Overall, I give this bed frame a good review. It isn't perfect, but it is the right size, it's easy to set up, and I haven't had any problems so far. I bought it because I couldn't afford the $500+ that even the cheapest beds cost, and I didn't know where I was going to sleep. I eventually got fed up and typed "Why do beds have to be so expensive?" into Google, and I found a forum where a guy was describing how he had put together a good bed with just a bed frame, plywood, an air mattress, a bed skirt, and a comforter, so I decided to try it for myself. Like him, I used a Coleman air mattress, which is very comfortable, and fits this frame well. And I always keep it covered with a cheap Mainstays Microfiber comforter I got from Walmart, so the cats won't puncture it. They haven't punctured it once. It really is amazing how for just $150 (shipping included), you can put together a decent-looking bed that's more spacious and more comfortable than the professionally-made ones. This beats the heck out of even overstock.com's prices! I would definitely recommend this frame and this method to anyone who needs a bed but can't afford the outrageous prices.

Very easy to assemble. Not quite as "heavy duty" as described. Overall, a good frame for a twin bed. And it's always great to get "free shipping".
